Google Play PolicyBytes - Data safety form walkthrough

The Data safety section on Google Play is a simple way for developers to help people understand what user data the app collects or shares, as well as showcase the app’s key privacy and security practices. All developers must declare how they collect and handle user data for the apps they publish on Google Play, and provide details about how they protect this data through security practices like encryption by July 20th 2022.

This process needs to be far simpler. If google emails people telling them that the data their app collects doesn't match up with their records then surely it should be possible for google to automate this process and let devs get on with making their apps

WTF: "Does your app collect or share any of the required user data types? We select No"... and he completely skips the form. Lol, this is not useful at all.
The "Action Required: Your app is not compliant with Google Play Policies" emails are the worst feedback I have ever seen. We always get the "we have detected data sent from your device that is not included in the User Data security form" email, but they don't say which data is actually missing so every time we have to check the policy, update the form, send it and... get it rejected without any feedback on the actual data. So frustrating.

We work for months developing apps.
And you just send templated emails for policy violations.
This leads to a lot of frustration and helplessness.

Very silly form. I select the option saying that my app doesn't use any user data at all, clicks through the next two screens, and then can't go any further. I go back to the app content screen, and it thinks I haven't filled out the data safety form, even though I just did.

I guess Google has some work to do here.

Meanwhile, I haven't completed the "privacy policy" either, because it's ludicrous to fill out a description of how we handle data, when it's a trivial app which doesn't even access any.

Writing the policy is straightforward enough, but I don't have a good site to put the URL at. Google should just let me put the content of the policy into the form, and host it themselves.

Hey google, my app is using bluetooth support and for that you made precise location as a necessaity. Than why do I have to declare it as a permission, we don't need it the android architecture need it.

We share OTP to a third party (Twilio) who can actually deliver the OTP to the phone number. Should I declare the phone number as having "Shared" with third party or not? Is it exempted? Bit confusing.

it does the installation, but it doesn't open, it doesn't create an icon.. after having downloaded and installed it.
