as a newly budding driver that has watched drifting for years this is exactly how i feel about Formula D. watching a bunch of 1000 hp cars just do the most sterile looking drifts in the outside of every corner is boring, and the judges do a terrible job of showing us why one driver’s lead run was better than another’s

When i get people to watch Formula D with me i always compare it to a skateboard tournament. There are objective technical elements like speed, angle, proximity, and there are subjective elements like style. They usually get it.

It blows my mind that these judges dont have a points counter that has a slide button that you slide up as the points are higher for better angle, speed, cornering, track placement etc.. and obviously when you are driving straight the points counter slides down.. its feels like thats exactly how video game drifts are scored. Lol. Why not?

I feel like FDJP judging methods is that the car needa drift and feel in the outer zone. The wheels must be in the outer zone in order to get the most point.

I like formula D though. In a sense it still is exciting and the way i see it...i see it as the style of drifting and entrys thats being taken when you angle the car. I would think it's judging by that instead of time attack runs or best lap time just my personal opinion 🤷 basically its a american idol for cars lol.... whoever performs the best in drifting.
