Zip Fix plasterboard fixings | The best plasterboard fixing?

zip fix plasterboard fixings are one of the best fixings available for fixing to plasterboard or drywall, they are inexpensive, easy to use and can hold a decent amount of weight. Originally these were known as Snap toggles, but the Zip fix fixings are identical. These are my number one choice for fixing to plasterboard, if I can’t locate a suitable stud to fix to.

Some plasterboard fixings will not work correctly unless you get the correct fixing for the thickness of plasterboard that you are fixing to! If you are fixing to plasterboard which has been dot and dabbed to a wall, you can fix to the wall behind using one of these two fixings-

Here are some other plasterboard fixing videos that you might find useful-

I hope everyone is coping during this difficult time!

I’m back on site next week for a few weeks, so I’ll get a break from the Mrs and kids 😉

Editing videos is very time consuming, one video that I filmed last week has over 8 hours of footage to edit down into a watchable video. The problem is that if I make a video too long people complain and if I make them too short people complain as not enough detail has been covered. I’m thinking that people have lots of spare time, so I’ll go for a longer video and that will have the added bonus of curing your insomnia 😊

Used the snap toggles based on your previous videos for a heavy TV media unit filled with sky box, a couple of games consoles and a projector too... cannot recommend them enough! So simple to use and it feels like no amount of weight will bring it down. As you mentioned, the snap toggles/zip fix also have the added benefit of staying in place if you remove the bolt. Long term subscriber, first comment just to show my appreciation for your content. Thank you and hope your staying safe in these scary times

Bob on with this product and video 👍👍. I've used zip lock and they are easy and not complicated. I've not been furloughed so I'm lucky😉. Enjoy your graft don't forget your tea bags👍.

Great video and I agree these are fantastic plasterboard fixings. I’ve only ever used them the once and had a bit of a struggle….the cavity was full of insulation material! Had to poke it out the way and list of few of these fixings in the process. Eventually got them to work and they held very well. I look forward to using them in an empty cavity wall 😀

They are a great fixings! I still have some M10 ones left over from a cloakroom installation where the client wanted a cantilever handbasin fixed to a very poor lath & plaster wall. I fitted a sheet of 12mm Aquapanel to the wall with countersunk bolts and fixed the basin through the Aquapanel. The basin held my weight easily once it was fixed.

Thanks for sharing I was surprised at how much weight plaster board could take. I thought my shelves were a bit overloaded but maybe not. Thanks regards Chris

ICI, Good grief that a childhood memory.

Just took delivery of an Evolution table saw, you seem to rate Evolution, I believe you mentioned them once or twice over the years.

All the best, stay safe.

Nice video - the shelf failures were funny. You'll have to start a new channel just for plasterboard fixings!

Hi mate, thanks for the video, all safe here Thank you, hope you and your's the same, no light at the end of the tunnel yet I'm afraid, as we're over 70 and some health issues were not going out, so any videos you give us will be gratefully received, I liked those toggle fixings, looks realy solid, can you get them into a dot and dab wall, ? . Back to work for a rest then, lol, I hope you've caught up on your own diy, ha, ha. Take care, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart.uk.

Great in theory BUT most newer walls have insulation behind the plasterboard. I couldn't clear enough of the insulation in a cone shape behind the plasterboard to get the toggle to articulate and seat.
