Carmilla's Daughters are Weirdly Boring #hazbinhotel #characterdesign #shorts

In the world of Hazbin Hotel where every single background character has the most outrageous designs ever, these two being so plain is actually a rarity.

The scientist daughter doesn't even have horns, it's a horn headband like Star Butterfly

The daugthers have names - the one that looks like a scientist from Dexters Laboratory is named Odette while the one that looks like a normal girl is Clara

They shouldve had some ballet motif like Carmilla, especially since their names are Clara and Odette! Why not give Odette a swan motif while Clara gets a doll/toy soldier motif, with a shared ballerina inspiration to tie both of them to their mother?

Maybe give them the facial marking that Carmilla has cuz they just look like regular background characters

Since they are both named after ballet main characters, you would expect them to have something to do with those characters in design, nutcracker and swan lake are very visually distinct stories, but they are just... Really bland

They have names but they are never told to us in show so for all intents and purposes they are unnamed

I suppose you could argue that with every single other character having complex designs thier simplicity IS what makes them stand out against everyone else

I wonder if in future seasons after Hell learns that redemption is possible if Carmilla will send her daughters to the hotel. Like she cares about their safety, so she might want them to redeem themselves and go to Heaven (The safest place they could be, even if it’s away from Carmilla). Especially since Carmilla might not want to redeem herself, or maybe she’ll think that since she’s done a lot of worse things it would be a lot harder for her to redeem herself.

A genetic have little to do with a sinners form in hell. I say little because their form while alive is used as a base. From there their forms are changed to be based on how they lived, died and something that they hate is added. Yes if you look up Angel's family you will notice that they are all spiders, but that is because they were all mobsters with a web of crime.

My biggest issue with a lot of designs for hazbin hotel (mostly background characters) is that the appearance of the sinners is supposed to reflect their life, things they hate about themselves, and how they died. So far helluva boss has been more consistent with this rule than hazbin, with most of the clients (sinners) reflecting how they died. But then you look at hazbin and a lot of the background characters designs, and they either follow the appearance rule, or don’t . Carmela’s kids look like humans just with horns and red eyes

Odette is a reused design from Viv’s older work, and unfortunately that means all her lackluster ideas from being in highschool came with. Clara isn’t as far as I know, she’s just always been kinda generic since the pilot.

just because they are sisters doesn’t mean they have to look the same i honestly think it’s a cute choice to make them look so different

They were probably added at the last minute to give characterization to Carmella.

At least Odett(the one in the lab coat) has a nice theme. Even if it is kinda generic. Clara(the one in regular clothes) doesn’t even have that. Making her look plain and boring.
Though they could try and give theme more ballet themes. Though it’s pretty obvious they focused that solely on Carmela.

This along with other things shows why the choices to have 2 songs in such a short amount of episodes was abad choice. The story telling was made to take a back seat to the songs.

Going to admit I kind of like them. It gives some fresh air simplicity. Also like yeah it is a bit sad to see background characters get left behind. But they aren't the only one and frankly sometimes the ideas just aren't coming. I can see Vizzie trying to draw the daughters but blanking so hard while have so many ideas for the rest, that would just never fit. Because frankly same. I would only be annoyed if it was an overall problem. Sometimes characters are just here to fill up some holes and I am kmay with that
