Pact of the Talisman: Am I a joke to you?

Everyone: Yes

Now you can be a Hexblade, take the Pact of the Blade invocation and still have a Quasit or Imp companion. Not bad.

on one hand, i love the idea of being able to have multiple pact boons.. (i made a sorlock once i was planning on playing as a gish but i wanted guidence so ended up taking pact of the tome instead of blade.. if i coulda done both it woulda been nice) and i like having it as a level one option (i had an idea for a farmer who accidently found a blade that gave him warlock powers and functioned as his pact weapon but having him be lvl 3 when getting the weapon never worked, so now it does) but on the other hand i feel like it takes away from the meaningful pact boon choice.. like, the boon always sounded like it was meant to be a reward from your patron (giving you better martial abilities, more eldritch knowledge in the form of spells, or a servent to do your bidding) but now you get one without "having" a patron (or at least knowing them) and can aquire all three..

1-Tome, Shillelagh, Truestrike
2-Agonizing Blast: Shillelagh and Truestrike
Your default melee attack deals d8+Cha+Cha+Cha
4- Warcaster
5- Bladepact, Thirsting Blade, Roll Agonizing Blast off Truestrike, to take Eldritch Smite

Your 2 attacks deal d10+Cha+Cha. Add smite or hex as needed

Level 12 take The next Blade invocation, 3 attacks at d12+10.

I think one reason to give subclasses at 3rd was hexblade (aside from clerics(armor etc) and divine sou) but they defeated the purpose with pact of the blade at level 1

I'm really saddened because I just found out Pact of the Tome no longer gives you a lv 1 slot.

Wow! Yeah that was my first thought of taking two invocations that were packs

So I can conjure magma mephits and wall of fire and use the mephits to hold enemies in the fire while launching them back in with Elrich blast. Nice

I think the warlock changes are my favorite

What about pact of the trigger? Sure its one of the newer pacts but it definitely rocks. Especially paired with either pact of the blade or pact of the chain.

Weird captioning, either "pact" is being voice recognized incorrectly, or we need to work on Kelly's pronunciation 😉

Hexblades with Pact of the blade can now use 2 Cha weapons.

I wonder how quickly the 2024 rule changes will be adopted into common games of D&D?

So you can be a Beast Master Ranger in a sense?

Dumbest idea, the Warlock has several weaker entities, lets say Fiends, as patrons, rather than one really powerful one. And some want a bigger claim on the Warlocks soul, so they try to bribe them with these Pact Boons.
Could also be used as someone who makes a deal, but doesn't become a Warlock fully. Grabbing a Boon with Magic Initiate.

They seem to be taking away meaningful choices in 2024.
Many choices you seem to be able to change after a long rest, you can choose your aasimar transformation each time you use it, can have multiple pacts and many other examples.
I like an awful lot of the 2024 changes but will definitely make a fair few setting rules for the games i run. I want powerful fun pcs but it feels like some mechanics dont actually support an actual character but just as versatile set of powers as the game can support.

Yes give WOTC your money for the same content you have already so you can keep homebrewing all the broken aspects of their system. Our just play PF2E
