Gotta love Brian Cox he's so passionate about the subjects he's talking about it's infectious. He's the man to get your kids interested in science

If he is my teacher I will definitely love science.

I'm ready for the next one, it would come as a relief

Brian Cox could do a documentary on a squirrels Nutsack and I would be so intrigued

Flattened a massive amount of a forest, but cities are built of steel, concrete and brick. Still would leave an awfully massive mess though… KABOOM!!!

When I look around at the quality of humans being produced, I actively root for the asteroid. It would be doing us a favor.

Is there any evidence or material left from the asteroid?

Let’s get this party started! Bring it!

It was not just the impact. Large scale volcanic activity (LIPs) were also believed to have had a role in the end-Cretaceous extinction. The Deccan traps etc. They were terribly unlucky.

I thought the Tungusta event was a comet and not an asteroid? No evidence of asteroid remnants were found, which is not common, especially for its size. A reasonable explanation is that it was a comet which is mostly ice and other debris. I'm no scientist so it's there is one here please correct me if I'm wrong. I love learning! 😊

Wasn't it because of a disturbance in the Oort Cloud by Planet X or something, which led to a gigantic asteroid/meteor shower into the inner planets?

Sure, the meteorite was the final blow, but everyone seems to forget that giant volcanic eruptions were also going on at that time. Those were already going on 200, 000 years before the impact, and continued for 150, 000 years after the impact. I'm talking about the Deccan Traps eruptions in India at the time. In a span of about 350, 000 years, about 512, 000 cubic kilometers of lava came out of the ground there with all the ecological consequences. It is very easy to say that only that impact is responsible for the extinction of those animals.

I am not disagreeing with you, I just wanted to ask a question. Since this information is supposedly true, what actual proof do we have that is specific to the one that took out the dinosaurs. Do we have a visible crater big enough to prove that big of a disaster had actually happened?

This man is not a gem…yet.
First, we must apply heat and immense pressure.
The dinosaurs, some of them may be gems 💎

I love how He says “we know that” it’s almost like he has the whole incident on camera😂

It's rarely a big firebal that sweeps the earth. From the geological records I don't think we've ever seen that. It's more the dust in the air and other weather changes that causes mass starvation and changes to ecosystems. Any animals left are in small pockets then have to adapt to new environments and so we get a leap fast evolution in a short time span.

I mean, regarding the cometoid that blasted did kind of 'cut the grass' so to speak. kind of improved the general look of the place
