Amazing information thank you, we are planning to go for 2 months to Japan in April 2024. We are a little apprehensive as we are not very good in finding our way around London, lol.First we are going to Vietnam in December and have watched all your videos about Vietnam, which are so helpful. Do you think we could wait until we get to Japan before we book ie Tea ceremony, Sumo wrestling, Onsens, Mount Fuji was, etc...

Joel I love you videos. I'm going on a travel adventure with my girlfriend in February next year and your videos have been invaluable.

The one thing that I think presumably everyone and myself personally would love to know is how you manage to fund your trips. Would love to see a video on that.

It's very interesting! Thanks (^^)
As a Japanese, I always wondered who started these two misunderstanding, which most of Westers/Americans totally misunderstand. It's .about tipping and slurping.
Tipping is not considered rude, In the first place, we don't have tipping custom, some don't know what's going on or how to deal with it. And even if some notice what you do is tip, they will be confused it's OK to take it, or it is better to return it. However if you are able to speak some Japanese and explain you(d like to tip to show your gratitude, maybe some Japanese will take it,
Slurping is not considered polite nor rude. Simply if you slurp noodles, more broth will come together when noodles enter your mouth and it makes noodle tastes better, that's it. Then for Japanese, it's just natural to slurp noodles. However, people don't care, even if you don't slurp. Just do what you want.

Anyway, please come to Japan, again!

Lot of youtubers say incorrectly about tipping or slurping in Japan particularly or the Sinospheric world. Firstly, tipping is not rude, just strange because we have never been exposed to that. People simply don’t know how to react.
Secondly, slurping isn’t complimentary at all ! Just how humanly we easterners eat noodles for centuries ! Never in my entire life heard from a single person around me in Japan that slurping is a compliment or gratitude. People in the muslim world eat with their hands, licking fingers are showing complimentary? Please limit your imagination n stop copying passing misunderstandings of any culture from one YouTuber to another.

You are such a polite person! I really respect you. I live in Tokyo and always see people from overseas, sometimes Japanese, break rules in public. However you seem to respect and follow Japanese rules. And you also told us about some rules unique to Japan on this video. I thank you as a Japanese. また日本に来てくださいね!
