A favorite summertime treat for first night Cracker Barrel:

I enjoy frozen shrimp, preferably medium or smaller. The shrimp doesn't spoil and typically stays cold in transit without a heavy cooler.

Best thing about the beetle buckles seperating wet straps from your hammock is why I use them. Great overnight imagine the luck 1st you find those good brews already cold then an nice supply of firewood.

I love bringing & eating some homemade chili for the cold nights. Chicken fajitas with lots of peppers and onions on fajitas!!!! When your'e in the woods everything tastes better no matter what you bring!!!! Love some cornbread!!! 😎👍🤘💪

Steak wrapped in peppered bacon with potatoes and sauteed veggies is my go to on the first night of a trip. If I'm in the right area then catching me some fish on the fly rod and filleting up and cooking in the coals is awesome too. I like your GSI setup there...I use a Toaks small cup but recently also started carrying a second cup for coffee... Be nice just to have it all nestled together.

Hey buddy, Great trip and good food. Pileiated woodpeckers make a series of connecting holes in trees with ants. They keep the outside of the holes fresh to keep sap flowing to trap them. Love nature, love the Gorge and Love your Videos ! Live it ! I like to take fresh whole hog sausage in for the 1st night and mix with rice sides and fresh peppers and such.

Chicken Broccoli Cous-Cous. Toss some chicken chunks and butter into your pot. Brown them up a little and when ready, add the water needed to make the cous-cous, and a small hand-full of broccoli pieces. Bring to a boil, stir in the cous-cous and set aside for 5-10 minutes. Stir it up, and add any spices you prefer. A little Parmesan cheese is a good one. MMmmmm.... Good.

Yep, pileated woodpecker makes those holes. Can't mistake them. They're big as a crow. Mostly black with white bands on the wings, a little white around the face, and red crest on their head.
