In this video, we’re going to talk about 7 natural remedies for gout.

Gout is a sudden sharp pain in your big toe—or other joints—caused by crystals formed out of excess uric acid. Your white blood cells target these crystals as if they were pathogens. Your own immune system creates inflammation to try to eliminate the crystal, which causes pain.

Uric acid is formed from purines, which are found in organ meats, game, fish, seafood, sugar, and yeast. If you are sensitive to these foods, you may want to start reducing them and see if your gout goes away.

Making your body slightly more alkaline may help reduce the formation of uric acid crystals.

The 7 best natural home remedies for gout are:
1. Vitamin C
2. Ginger
3. Apple cider vinegar
4. Lemon juice
5. Turmeric
6. Stinging nettle root
7. Potassium citrate

These remedies help promote a healthy pH level and reduce gout symptoms.

Give these remedies a try, and let me know how they work for you in the comments below.

I drink baking soda -- 1/2 teaspoon to 4 ounces water -- at the first sign, which is a cracking big toe joint. This really works for me and my mom! It must neutralize the uric acid.

My husband has started getting gout as a side effect of his heart meds. He took just one thing from this to try and eats celery with everything. After 2 days the symptoms disappeared and haven't come back. Thank you.

The only thing I've found to totally get rid of Gout is a Carnivore Diet. It takes 3-4 weeks, but in the end Gout is totally gone. Eating a high carb diet, sugary deserts, ect, brings on the Gout in a major way. At present I'm doing a Lazy Keto, eating foods I like, but still no Gout. For the most part I stay away from deserts, sugar, bread, potatoes and rice. I have a theory that gout is associated with high blood sugar, high blood pressure and sub optimal kidney operation. NIH Studies on Gout found 66% of Gout Sufferers had normal to low levels of Uric Acid. Uric Acid is also an antioxidant, good for the body. So there's something "The Science" hasn't figured out about Gout yet.

If you have gout, stay away from organ meat (liver, kidney, gizzard, intestines, etc.). Eat these only in small amount, NEVER in large quantity. I love chicken gizzard (marinated and barbequed) and once ate so much of it in one day that I had gout the next day (first time in my life). My toes were so painful, I couldn't even step on the brake or clutch pedal of my car. Since then, I have only ate single piece in one day, and never had gout again.

Last summer I had this twice and could not place it. Went away after 4-5 days. After watching this video, thank you, I looked it up with other dokters as well. They say two other main elements beside food what specificly indicates the acute problems, hydration and physical condition. First the uric level is raised by dehydration, alcohol, severe sweating (physical effort, summer heat), loosing weight fast from a diet raising the acids, physically; (starting) kidney problems like for example starting kidney stones, higher blood pressure, starting heart and vascular diseases, Insuline Resistence.... and it happens as well overnight during your sleep, in other words you wake up with it. Living in the South West of France it gets hot in the summer 30-40°C/86-104°F, a bit too much alcohol in the evening happens, some fish on the bbq, sweating a lot while doing a lot of physical work, lost 10kg last summer, I do know now I have Insuline Resistance, ok thank you it is clear to me now!!! Started a full low carb diet in december and intermittent fasting as the 1st of january. The pain that I sometimes feel in my kidney (had kidney stones 11 years ago so know the feeling) when sleeping on that side where as well my big toe had the problems is gone, no alcohol, no sugar, the fish of course is part of the low carb. So it does require a change in life style too and if persistent a visit to the dokter!

I think potassium did it for me. Thanks a lot Dr. Berg. You don’t know how much you changed my life. I lost about 70 kg and gave up blood pressure medication. No more acid reflux. No more seasonal allergies, and a lot more!

Culprits are also usually fructose and alcohol. Excess uric acid production. Reduce or eliminate these first would be a good idea

Number 6on the list Stinging Nettle root is the only thing I don't take but 1-5 and 7 I do them everyday. And yes it makes a diff with the gout, arthritis among other things. Great teaching Doc 🙌🏾👏🏾

Thank you very much for EXPLAINING that the acid in lemons (I'm assuming that's citric acid) becomes ALKALINE (a base) once it is OXIDIZED in the body. None of the other doctors I watched EXPLAINED this. This is definitely very COUNTER-INTUITIVE because most people, including myself before I watched this clip, would think that ingesting an ACID (such as found in lemons) would make a problem being caused by an ACID (uric acid) WORSE. Now I UNDERSTAND why that is NOT the case!! This stuff can be TRICKY sometimes. It helps a lot when a FULL explanation is given. Thanks for doing that!!

It starts with your genetics. You either have the gene or you don't. I do have
and the only thing I can say for sure is that you must not let yourself get dehydrated.

This is the first video I've watched today and it applied to me totally as I was having this sharp pain in my left toe that comes and goes thinking it was probably a tight shoe due I'm wearing double socks because of cold weather. I've been eating specifically liver and lentils for their nutritional value never realizing it would come to this. Thanks for the info life works in mysterious ways yet I'm just a nobody
