I always had a feeling he had an ED since season 1 cuz he was constantly exercising, body checking, and we barely ever saw him eat. He even said himself that he didn’t eat carbs and stuff. And honestly I did feel bad for him. I’m glad Simon pointed it out and seemed a bit concerned for him. Unpopular opinion but I think August might be one of my fav characters now despite everything he did. He’s not necessarily a bad person and you can tell how sorry he was and he was trying to change especially in S3.

I always knew that August had an ED and body dysmorphia, but it’s really interesting to me that the writers made him such a complex character. He’s done terrible, unforgivable things that made many of us hate his guts, but the writers put him in a situation to make us sympathetic for him. This is different than having a narcissistic character that doesn’t regret any of their actions. I don’t know, I always had that in the back of my mind, and why would the writers decide to make the August more relatable/ easier to sympathize for in this season?

I am fascinated by August's growth this season. It's totally unexpected and unprecedented. August proved to be a mature, responsible, sensible and a sincere person this season. Having said that, I know what he put Wilhelm and Simon through is absolutely despicable and unforgivable and perhaps it will take August quite a long time to gain their trust back. However, the way the writers handled August's storyline impressed me to the hilt. He didn't come off as the arogant, bossy, mean and condescending person like the previous seasons. He listened to Boris's advice and really tried to make an effort to be a better person. He took accountability for his actions and owned up to his mistakes. When August read the letter to Sara which was addressed to his future self, I was moved. When August narrated to Wilhelm the horrible experience of the third year's initiation, he was being vulnerable and honest. He had tears in his eyes. I think August has the potential to change and I think Sara's love can genuinely transform him as a person.

I agree sm w the caption, like he genuinely added so much emotion and depth to all the characters, including Wille in the last episode. genuinely am so happy that they didn’t continue writing him as a hate able character and instead made him incredible difficult not to sympathise with. love august

August is becoming my favourite character out of this show and also love his character development throughout this season. you can see he's been going through alot and that no one understands him and it gets lonely for him. i hope he gets help that he needs :(

once he knew he messed up I felt bad for him throughout s2 and s3, he deserved better but I DO understand why nobody trusted him. But he knew he messed up and that’s all that mattered, but he kept apologizing and nobody was there for him (except for sara for a bit) which is messed up on its own. Especially since he has his own issues.

I love how even after everything August has done to him, he will still worry about him, you can see it in his eyes and face and hear it in his voice, like he looks and sounds more worried than his own friends do

I really never hated August. He's a complicated character for sure, but he's very energy-driven if I can call it that. He is, after all, a royal. You can tell from the first second he was raised to be 'a leader' in a way and never show weakness. He likes to be the popular guy, but then never shows how he really feels. He has dreams and ambitions, but isn't really able to chase them or to talk through them in order for other dreams and ambitions to even appear in his head. He wants to seem like a fit and ambitious guy, but is as insecure as it gets, and his ED is one of the symptoms of that. He has been obsessed with his body since season 1, and not in a good way. Always pushing his limits, just to stand in front of the mirror and find flaws that aren't even there. And it's not his fault.

What August did was terrible, of course it was. But even when he did it, I fully understood him. Maybe that makes me evil and weird but for me, but he was angry and had all the right to be, so he decided to do the most brutal and disgusting thing to cope. It's very twisted, and nothing excuses what he did. But the motive is clear. He went to far of course, but seeing August really made understand him in a way? He overreacted, because he was never taught to do otherwise. He was attacked, and his brain at some point just went on autopilot, and the thing he did could've actually ruined wille completely. It's fortunate Wille still turned out to be more or less okay, this video, in his position, could've destroyed his life far more than it did in the series.

Exploring augusts character has been incredibly interesting on a storytelling level. Cause there's several ways to show a villain. See, take the dark knight rises and the joker. It's based on the same character, but the way the viewer sees it completely differs, even though both characters did terrible stuff. One makes you see him as a villain, and the other one almost makes you feel empathetic, like you would've done the same thing or at least would've felt a similar way.
I can't hate august because I know his story. Almost every 'villain' (or real criminal) has one, almost every crime has a motive, and in many cases, adding context really raises empathy. It's the same for august, because not only do we know him, but I feel like we actually get to see his point of view. That's why I love young royals. There is no real villain, and even the heroes sometimes do the worst or dumbest shit.
For example when Simon breaks up with wille because he couldn't handle a secret relationship, he then goes to Marcus to do the exact same thing to him. Or willes sense of revenge. He literally pointed a gun at august, and the way he yelled at his mother? I understood why he was angry but damn, besties got no chill.

Every character is flawed and does messed up shit, and we get to see how the messed up shits really intertwine.

And yes I love talking about this series, leave me alone🥲

okay after this someone could kill me but...i've never hated him so much, i know he made a lots of mistakes but he's a human and he's a teen. i think that he was so confused when he posted the video and he was too proud of himself, but now we can see how much he suffered and i can't understand why ppl hate him sm...he's just broken :/

Diese Scene ist echt traurig da merkt man erstmal was August alles durch macht so sad. Er ist echt alleine. Er zerstört sich selbst.

I definitely agree. His arc was just as integral to the story as Simon’s and Wille’s. Malte did an amazing job this season.
