Lead CG artist here, I'll give my opinion like I would in a daily session. Do with it as you wish :) I like it, I feel like it's going to the right places. The scaring itself looks good but I feel like the color less so. If you look at references of severe burn survivors with darker complexion ( people that are not white ), you see that the color of their scared skin does not change all that much from their original skin tone. The sheen of it, yes, the texture of it also, but the tint and color, a bit, but not as much as we see here. Personally I feel like it is too red-ish but the actual scar pattern and intensity of the scar itself is perfect and well designed.

I think the white electrical scaring should taper from face into the scar, the his eye damaged as well. Perhaps the eye should be milky.

I think it looks great, definitely looks like mace windu. I think you should add in some more accurate looking lightning scars though. If you google lightning scars they actually look pretty cool and almost like there tattooed on. I think adding those reddish, fern-like patterns to mace windu could give him a really cool legendary-looking status

I LOVE DEMOCRACY. I think the scarred eye could be a tad more milky, other than that the model is perfect!
Edit: @carpeimodiem also suggested sealing the eye shut with burn marks which I think is a great idea

I don't think it's too much at all. The dude flew out of a building through a broken glass window. I would honestly be surprised if he didn't have a big scar on his face, so if you ask me, it's perfectly good for whatever you have in store. So excited, Theory!!

Small amounts of facial hair could be added to Mace’s face. Since the order is no more and he’s “on the run” from the empire, him maintaining a consistent shave probably isn’t very likely. Other than that Mace’s model is very well done

1. I love the electrocution effect! Maybe a little less pure white tho. Since its been a long time since he got hurt. Like how a scar fades over time. 100% agree with what you say Theory
2. would be cool to have traces of facial hair as well! Makes 3 models really pop
3. Would also love to see some more damage and wear on maces clothing. Idk if thats already meant to happen as they fight (if they do xD)
4. You ask if it sells as samuel. It does, but what will really sell it is the facial expressions. Thats really important once you animate it :)
5. Why not use clone wars boots? Like how they look in sw clone wars animation. If not then i agree that the metallic gold/bronze is cool.

3D artist here. All the models look amazing along with the lighting previews. The clones look SICK. I think it's easy to tell this is a likeness of Samuel Jackson. I feel like the scarring/damage could be pressed a little bit further. More of a starburst pattern and maybe a little bit of drooping of his flesh, like the muscles in his face where the lightning hit him would be melted along with scarred and would have lost the tightness as if he would have a stroke from the stress and pain. Plus it would be a nice juxtaposition to Sideous. The eye would be milky/blinded because of the retina damage . Lastly since he was blasted through thick glass it would be cool to story-tell a bit more with pockmarks and scaring all over his face and head. Finally you could remove the eyebrow hair from the eye with the most damage since they would have been fried off with the heat of lightning and it would sell the idea/image of Mace getting essentially seared. Besides this you and your team are doing a fantastic job!!! The wookie also looks really badass! 🙌

I like the idea of him looking like a victim of lightning striking him irl. People irl get gnarly scars from getting struck by lightning.

I think I would like to see physical damage in the film. Like heart or lung damage from the lightning. Usually that has substantial emp damage so the attention to detail would be cool. Like him and Vader having similar breath style and rhythm. Also would like to see a slight barely noticeable purple vein or two in the eye. Only when u pay attention u can see it. I like the distinction on the face. Usually lightning scars look noticeable in the pattern so I think it looks good. Could be toned down forsure but hopefully not too much. Love it so far

I don’t think the lightning scarring is too much, it looks great. I’d say just make sure it’s accurately aligned with facial veins since that would be cool.

I really like that you’re practicing what youve been preaching with starwars shows, listen to the fan base, ask for feedback and genuinely listen, you’re creating what the audience wants to see and its become way too rare with modern starwars. 👏👏

I honestly think it would look incredible if *Mace's eye was actually seared shut. Like Palp's force lightning melted his right eyelid to his eye.*

It also makes for a powerful showdown. Where Vader takes advantage of his lacking field of vision. And forces Windu to close his left eye and look with the force, in order to get back in the fight. A nice "remember your training" moment. You could even quickly flashback to little padawan Mace. Using a training helmet to see with the force.

But more importantly, I think it would make him look like he is ULTRA war tested. Rather than someone who could be mistaken for having a skin contidion. Which is my first impression.

One other possible solution might be to show some of his skull protruding through his skin. Like it didn't just scar him. It burnt the skin completely off in a few contact points. Like maybe right cheekbone and eyebrow. Maybe a C-shaped ring around his eye where the bone is exposed. Where it's clear he had kept himself alive with the force. And no normal human could have survived that much... UNNN LIMMMITED POWW WAHH!! 😂❤

as a senior concept artist myself, and currently working on a pretty big StarWars project, I have to say these models and the first images you’ve shown are looking really good
