You can thank Newsom and the Mayor directly for this. This is the direct result of incompetence at the highest levels. Cuts to wildfire management and fire fighting forces, as well as a inexcusable lack of available water are the reasons these fires spread so rapidly out of control.

Not a Newsome fan at all, Bass is terrible. That said, the conditions present when this fire started, actually both of the big fires, made containment nearly impossible. It’s hard to do anything outside in 70 mph winds. The Palisades fire’s point source was in the neighborhood, which is pretty isolated. I’m interested in how it started. Probably not arson. Not a lightning strike. That leaves an electric line arcing after being damaged by a falling tree or limb. Or, an accident or incredibly stupid move, like using an edger or mower.
