I think you did a very thorough review with minimal distractions. Thanks for taking the time to go over the features of this robo vacuum cleaner!

Virtual walls and no-go zones has just been added in the latest firmware update, as well as the ability to remember the map. If I pick it up and moves it to the bedroom for example, it will know where it is, and it will avoid the no-go zones I've set up. Those were the only things I felt was missing in the app, but now it's nearly perfect! :)

Don't have a roomba to compare with - but after a month with Roborock I doubt I will have to. Very impressed with the S5 it's just awesome!

Yes this is the KING of robot vacuum! Ive had mine for about a year now and I love mine so much my wife is jealous! Having said that a few things that bug me.
1. As soon as you pick it up just a little, it deletes the map and you have to let it clean your entire house to remap and be able to
use zone cleanup again. I wish they would update this so it could remember previous maps to use.
2. I tried the mop function and all it does is leave sticky streaks thru out the house, so I dont use it.
3. It does have ALEXA but the skill doesnt work as well as it should, dont use it either.
4. Didnt know it had Google Assistant, have to check that.
5. Sometimes when its cleaning a room and I happen to move a chair or something, it looses its place and the map gets all out of wack,
does not remember where is at and will not find its way back to the dock.
Other than that this vacuum is great, if it ever gets stuck it will notify you where its at and what the problem is. It will tell you when to clean the sensors,
when its going back to dock, if the the tray is full, and on and on. FYI you can get extra Brushes, Side Brushes and filters on ebay for cheap.

Which one is better, this one, or the neato d7, if both comes with same price?

I couldn’t agree more! Best vac out there. This is my first robot vacuum ever and I did my research before making a purchase. Basically this vacuum rivals the roomba 980 in every aspect and is almost half the price. The new update you can now vertical walls but leaving the map save mode on in settings creates conflict when moving the vacuum to a new floor it thinks it’s on the saved floor.

Hopefully it lasts. I've had many IRobot Roombas since back in 2007. Every Roomba I've bought still works (even 10 years later). Sure, they need a new battery every few years, but, that's it. I've also had Neato Botvacs since around 2013. Still working 6 years later. I wonder how long these will last.

We were deciding between this one and the Neato D7, went with the D7 and it is great, love it. I'm sure this one would be awesome too. The laser is the better guidance method which both have.

You just made up my mind on picking a robot vacuum. I was just about to buy a Roomba but this changed my mind.

Only issue I see is that with it's high profile due to laser it can't clean under sofa and low furniture

Thank you, I bought one through your link and it’s awesome. Technical question: When the robot is mid cleaning and it gets low on battery, it went back to charge. However, it did not go back and finish automatically. Any thoughts? It did resume the cleaning manually. Then, I paused it and left it where it was at until the next day. When I attempted to resume, the vacuum could not do it. It closed out the current cleaning and I had to start the whole house from scratch in order to map again. I DID have a power outage that reset the WiFi so this may have had something to do with it. Any thoughts here? Overall it’s very impressive.

Very cool but, at almost $600, it's pretty pricey... It's nice to see them getting better and better.  I was never super impressed with these Robot vacs but, this is making me think that I could almost replace having to vacuum...

Not a fan of the “combo” mop/vacuum robots. I have a NEATO D3 to vacuum and BRAAVA 240 to mop. Mapping, no go lines for the vacuum and the 240 mops great. $199 for the NEATO and $159 for the Braava.

Great review Dan. You have done this gadget justice. I bought mine about 2 weeks ago and I'm extremely happy with it. It's brilliant. It's the first robot vacuum I've owned but I did a LOT of research before I bought it. I'm also really happy that it works with Alexa, and Xiaomi should advertise this more with the product. I haven't tried the mop feature yet and I read somewhere that you shouldn't put detergent in with the water. Do you know why? The mop attachment is a self contained unit and I don't see how it could do it any harm. If it does, I will still have a fully functional robot vac anyway so I might give it a try sometime. BTW, I've called mine RoboDad 👍
