The iPhone 8 Plus is the final "Plus" home button iPhone, and will not be receiving the iOS 17 update- leaving it on iOS 16 forever and marking the end of an era. How does the iPhone 8 Plus hold up going into 2024?

No iOS 17 for the final "Plus" home button iPhone - it's got no direct successor, and remains highly coveted in 2023 because of it. Is it worth buying, keeping, upgrading from? Idk man, I just work here.
Still, it's a pretty great phone that holds up fantastically considering the age- couldn't ask for a better end to an era.

6 years is no longer “super old” for a smartphone. Definitely aged a little but not “old and obsolete”. It’s amazing how long phones last nowadays even when the software is a few versions behind everything still works. Heck I’m watching this on an iPhone 6 Plus

I love my 8+ so much and I absolutely RAGED when I found out it wasn‘t gonna get iOS 17. But it isn’t gonna stop me from using it as long as I can. It’s holding up so strong, 84% battery health, survived at least 3 drops (one without case), has some minor scratches on the screen because I have no screen protector but I don’t care, I find it very aesthetic, I love the homebutton, it does everything I want, the list goes on… I‘m just an average almost 16 year old and this phone is perfect for me. I just got a new case and I love it. My phone doesn’t struggle to do anything I expect from it. It does everything fast and convenient. 8, 8+ and X deserved iOS 17…

This phone should’ve absolutely got iOS 17. Great phone just unfortunate it got discontinued a bit soon. Hopefully apple supports the XS/XR series longer.

If only apple would make an SE+, I love this design because it is iconic.
Kinda missing my old 6s+ now.

The 8+ was the best iPhone for me. I had no issues with service or kinks. I loved the round edge design. I feel like it was the first phone they made that was actually durable. I miss the home button

I’ve had my 8 plus since launch. Running 16.5.1(c), it still does everything I need, takes great photos and has a fantastic 16:9 1080p screen, perfect for media. I’m one of the 10% who can’t use OLED due to PWM, so I’ll keep it as long as I can, hoping the future SE 4 will be kept with an LCD screen.

Still using my iPhone 8+ and with virtually no issues. It is the last iPhone I bought and though I will probably get the 15, I love this phone! It is in pristine condition and last summer I replaced the battery which gave it pretty much all-day battery life.

I upgraded from the iPhone 7 to the iPhone SE 2 in June. Bought it off Amazon renewed for about $120, and it’s pretty good. I’m beta testing iOS 17 on it.

I know it’s VERY, VERY unlikely to happen, but I hope apple brings back the home button in a future model (ik the SE still has it, but it’s WAY too small for my hands). Like if they made an "SE+" or "SE Pro Max" that would be AMAZING!😂

My 8+ has survived a total of 8 drops (all without the case) to the floor. Yeah, it works just fine. No cracks, just a few small scuffs.

Nice video, my 8 Plus still running iOS 14.8.1. All my apps still work.

I got an 8 Plus at launch and used it faithfully for 3 years until I was able to upgrade to an XR. Absolutely loved it, it ran blazing fast all the time back then, no updates ever slowed it down that I could notice, battery lasted all day and I care a lot about how a phone sounds music wise, it sounded great for that. One of my favorite phones ever, I was honestly sad to have to sell it on to be able to afford the XR. And considering the 6s ran iOS 9-15, I feel like the 8 series definitely should've died on iOS 17, not 16, but that's Apple for you I guess lol.

I’ve used my 8 plus (256 gb) since launch. Fantastic phone. Replaced my battery myself twice over these 6 years. I want to use it until it explodes in my hands lmao. I love still having a home button & being able to use touch id. I really wish they would make another large face home button iPhone. Especially since the new-gen se exists.

Ok I’m jumping on this notification immediately, as a product red 8 plus owner I love it, it’s perfect in every way. I personally am still using iOS 13.7 with the checkra1n jailbreak and obviously I can’t speak for it’s performance on iOS 16 but it’s lightning fast at performing every task. Not planning to upgrade for a while!

Loving the 8 Plus for the most part. The biggest downside for me right now is the lack of 5G support. In my area LTE is getting phased out while 5G is getting phased in. I've noticed way to often I don't have service lately. Thinking about going to the SE (3rd Gen) but hesitant due to the screen (size and resolution).

Have had my 8 pro since it was released, and was contemplating upgrading to a 14 pro max; however, after viewing this video I’m sticking with the 8 pro as long as possible. I am convinced the home button will experience a rebirth in future models, the camera is excellent, and honestly, for Pete’s s sake, it’s just a phone. Plus I’m in my 70’s and will save the new tech for my grands.

In my opinion this was the best iPhone released. Really enjoyed it but the 15 pro max was a big upgrade
