A talent for mimicking is indeed very important. I am, if I may say that about myself, quite decent at it. I also rarely struggle with memory and spelling. These talents combined are the reason for my motivation to learn languages. There are, no doubt, other sources of motivation which can lead people to learn languages. Of course they also provide me with a little edge in the learning process itself, but that can most likely be compensated with hard work, if someone has different talents that may be less useful in language learning.

So basically to sum it all up, talent is a good source of motivation, but in no way essential to becoming a polyglot
