WOWW! Tour of Béhuard, France in the Loire Valley
Показать описание
This is Béhuard which is one of France's Petites Cités de Caractère. France has several designations like this that classify some of its most beautiful places, and here in the Loire Valley, on an island in the Loire River is the tiny 120-person village of Béhuard. I'm going to show you around, tell you more about this place and maybe you'll see why France really is one of the most gorgeous places in the world.
The French take the recognition of their beautiful towns and villages seriously. The Petites Cités de Caractère designation has been around since the 1970s and it's a label for very small towns and villages of fewer than 6,000 people. The villages selected meet specific criteria and pledge to protect and promote their historical, architectural, and cultural heritage.
Les Plus Beaux Villages de France is another one of these labels and has been around since 1991. There's a whole selection process with criteria as well. There's even a TV show called Le Village Préféré des Français where several candidates are shown and then the public votes on their favorite petit village. It's been going now for 10 or 11 seasons!
