I teach financial planning and I always tell couples to have separate accounts. You may have one joint account to be used only for joint expenses, but everything else should be separate.
This helps prevent arguments over money and encourages personal accountability. It has the added benefit of discouraging gold diggers. Separated accounts help prevent one spouse from abusing the other financially.
A spouse should be a partner, not a parasite. You marry a person, not a bank account.

Or just... don't get married. Never sign a contract that incentivizes the other party to break the contract. Think you're being careful? Judges can throw out pre-nups

Write down all expenses on paper. Divide the expenses and assign responsibility to each person. Have a secondary savings for long term expenses ie. Insurance, property taxes, vacations etc.

The only thing to combine maybe is bills but maybe there’s more to it than just combining

When forever only has a 50% chance. Marriage is just too risky. I'm a nurse and the behavior a strategy behind when they plan on file is mind blowing. Can't believe the amount of times I've heard after I graduate I can file for divorce x amount of semester or after we sell the house I can file. Just too dangerous.

I don't understand why you would want to combine finances in the first place. Why not just keep doing your thing?
