This is a wild story! Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing.

I didn’t have the same opportunity, but my first job (for 2 years) was straight up boring and probably slowed my career down.

I had no experience out of college, messing around too much. So my first job was a software analyst, not engineer. Which just mean I pushed a button and crunched data 80% of the time. 20% reading and coding. For 40k/year.

I remember walking the halls just because I needed to break the monotony

I had previous work experience then i went for masters, during my masters i interned at AMZ India, almost half way in the internship, I was expecting things from me(because of the prev exp), but the internship so far was not working out the way i want. Tasks assigned to me were open ended, and undoable, i did not have anything concrete to show, the Program Manager once scolded me during our Scrum meetings in front of everyone. Boi that was the point i had broken down in my own mind. i started dreading the Chime calll.. fast fwd, i didnt get the Job. And by the end of internship i was okay with it. I didnt want to be in that environment anyway. But that point had broken my confidence and took some time for me to get it back(still didnt get it fully)

Hey Kevin, thanks for sharing this story! I felt what you felt about your first job in my third job! My impostor syndrome really piled up on me and then I was constantly doubting my abilities and questioning why I ended up in this field. Unfortunately I ended up quitting as I was feeling extremely overwhelmed. Fast forward 1 year now into my break I am feeling better than ever in my life and am ready to start my career again :) My advice for everyone feeling overwhelmed by their job is to really take a step back and think and reflect, whether its taking a career break or just taking some time off for yourself, do it!! You will come back with a better mental state and don't forget that resets are very important. Cheers!

True every word, finally happy to hear that all the intelligent people started realizing that they are trapped in the system of systematic process of rat race system. I love money and Code.. that's the only thing drove me to be an engineer. I code for passion and I work for money that's it.
