The Valiha

Madagascar's unique national instrument is the valiha. Originally it was made from a single stalk of bamboo, with the "strings" cut directly from the surface of the stalk. More recently steel strings have replaced the bamboo ones. This is what a valiha sounds like in the hands of a professional.
