The men's never held it against Webster in real life. They were glad Webster didn't have to suffer the Battle of the Bulge. They still treated him as a brother when he returned.

Lipton: "Thank you, welcome back sir."
Welsh: "That's 'Harry' to you. Congratulations!"
Lipton: "Thanks, Harry!"

Lipton is now an officer and can address the other officers as equal.

Liebgott giving Webster a hand in the end is one of my favourite moments of the series. Really wholesome

Lt Jones is last seen about to climb into a jeep that will take him to his new posting. A subtle reminder perhaps that the real Lt Henry Jones died in a jeep accident a couple of years after the war.

Webster and Lt Jones came in the beginning of the episode and were perceived as sort of ‘’outliers’’ to the rest of easy company. Webster who avoided much of the hardships that easy company had gone through, and LT Jones who literally had no combat experience, were both resented and excluded by everyone else.

In a display of great character, Webster empathized with the rest of the men who were tired of many battles they’ve been through, and so he made moves so that two guys from the company didn’t have to risk their lives in the upcoming patrol. Legit influenced Jones to be bold and volunteer to replace SGT Malarky, and made sure Leibgott got removed for redundancy.

In the end, Winters was promoted to Major, Lipton was promoted to 2nd LT, Jones was promoted to 1st LT and Webster was embraced back into the company. The heart of this episode was private Webster.

A cool detail I noticed was that Webster still had the scrim netting on his helmet throughout the entire episode. The only time you see those men’s helmets with it on was during or right after an airborne operation. His helmet still having the scrim from the jump into Holland was a nice detail showing how much he missed in combat.

I never noticed Cobb being escorted by the MP’s in the back before.

LT Jones had a bright career ahead of him. Enthusiastic, Respectful, and empathetic. All Characteristics of a good leader. Sad his life was cut short from a Car Accident 2 years after the war. He reminds me of my brother

first Lt. Henry Jones seemed childish or very over-focused as you can say, but, even without having seeing combat before, he proved to be an able and calm soldier, a good and decisive leader, and a respectful man, at first his "10 hut"s were annoying, and almost ignored, but by the end of the episode everyone was doing it and respecting it, it's a sad thing that he died of a car accident 2 years after the war, but I'm glad to have known about him on this series

Webster’s narration at the end really puts things into perspective, I was left in contemplation of what those men went through. Webster is prob one of my favorite characters behind Winters and Blithe because he’s so keen on the little things and being really observant.

The nods from Jones and Webster at 2:50 to each other were absolutely satisfying!

Winters really hated every promotion he got after 1LT.

2:34 keep your eyes behind Webster and you can see Cobb being loaded into a jeep with some MP's

I'm a prior scene he got drunk and berated Lt. Jones whereas in real life he assaulted Foley and was arrested by the MP's

Such a subtle detail of what happened to the real life Cobb.

I think Jones would have done well as a platoon leader in Easy Company, if he just was born a little earlier and deployed on June 6 1944.

Thanks so much for this scene and especially the really nice quality.
I always found it sad that Webster was treated so coldly in the beginning of this episode, but really happy that the squad finally warms up to him and welcomes him back by the end, and also Lt. Jones (portrayed by Colin Hanks, funny enough) getting promoted and also winning the respect of his peers.

From the book version of this scene ⬇️
"As rumor of the patrol seeped through the ranks that day, Lieutenant Jones sought Winters out. Snapping to attention, he said, “Sir, I heard there’s a patrol being sent across the river. I’d like to volunteer.”Winters looked at him with an appraising eye. “Cocky young man, ” Winters thought, but he admired the officer’s eagerness.“Request denied, ” Winters said. “You have no combat experience.”“Begging your pardon, sir, but I need to get that experience sometime.”“True, but not now. This will be dangerous enough for experienced fellas.”The patrol assembled in front of a house near the river, in plain view of the Germans. Winters, clutching a map, began outlining the plan, gesticulating as he spoke and causing some men to worry that a German artillery spotter would see him and direct a shell his way. None came. Evidently, no one was looking. Or no one cared.Winters pointed to a large building across the river.“That’s your objective, ” he said. “We know the Krauts have an OP in there. Because of the current, the patrol will cross the river upstream on our right flank, by D Company’s OP, and approach the objective. Once you reach the Kraut OP, Mercier, get your flankers out to provide security, then go in. Put a rifle grenade into the building, and close in fast. Get more grenades into the basement windows. That’ll stun the Krauts inside. Get in, grab some POWs, and get out. But before you leave, I want a satchel charge on a delayed timer hidden in the building. With any luck, the Germans will reoccupy it before the charge goes off. Get back to the boats as fast as you can. Mercier has a whistle that he will blow when you’re pulling back. That’s the signal for the covering fire to open up. You’ll have blanket support. We have a 57 mm antitank gun, a .50 caliber and several .30 caliber machine guns, as well as mortars covering your every move. They’ve zeroed in on every known or suspected enemy position, so woe be to any Kraut fool enough to lift his head.”Winters looked around at the grim-faced men. The plan was as perfect as he could make it.“This patrol has two objectives, ” he said. “Division wants prisoners. So do I, but mostly I want you all back unharmed. Be careful.”As the gathering broke up, Jones again approached Winters.“Sir, ” he said. “I’d like to go on this patrol. I feel I really need the experience.”Winters again stared at the young man, then nodded.“Okay, ” he said, knowing Jones was correct. “You can go. As an observer. Mercier’s in charge. You do what he says.”
