'One Nation, One poll': Cong's Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury declines to join panel, says 'total eyewash'

Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Saturday declined to be a part of the high-level committee announced by the Centre to examine the possibility of simultaneous elections in the country. In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chowdhury said he has come to know that he has been appointed a member of the high-level committee on simultaneous polls to the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabhas.

One nation one election is must needed...As a paramilitary brat...I have seen the struggle and problems that our paramilitary jawans are facing due to always being busy traveling for the whole of the year on election duties from small elections to big ones. Due to manpower shortage in Departmental units, the remaining jawans have to do 12-hour duty at various duty posts and also they face mental stress. Govt need to think about that as soon as possible so that some elections can be completed at once in a 5-year gap from State elections to central ones. Elections need huge manpower, from teachers to the Armed forces.
