Yeah I really like this video. I switched to banking from a B4 Audit background. A lot of people say it’s not really a “logical” transfer, but if you get your interview story straight, the switch was pretty easy for me AND the skills I gained were really relevant.

I've heard you can lateral into IB from working within Big 4 Corporate Finance, and that this move can be made from Audit via internal transfer. I've also seen some go from Audit to Corporate Finance and then straight into MM PE, and it's actually a route I'm keen on taking (I'm about to join Audit as a school leaver at KPMG). Audit to Equity Research I've heard is also pretty common.

I don't know about the lawyer situation in the US but from what I've heard junior lawyers work a lot harder than most in front office banking jobs and get paid much less that's certainly my perception for the UK.
