Personally, the obscure playable characters was one of my favorite parts of Tenkaichi 3. If anything, I hope that unknown whackos somehow manage to come back.

I do feel the story mode is bit flawed/ lackluster. Yes we've played through the same story 1000 times already but it is a major game mode for me. Other than that, they bloody damn nailed it! Now I just have to get good enough to actually beat the alternate win conditions lol

My only issue is the sound and music. BT2 had one of the most memorable soundtracks in my childhood and the sound effects of ki blast and melee was closer to the anime.

Sparking Zero has reawakened my love for Dragon Ball. I didn't really watch the show growing up because my parents thought it was too violent, but I experienced the show/game hanging out at friends houses growing up through the Budokai games. All in all as 30 year old man this game is exactly what I imagined as a kid a futuristic Dragon Ball game would play and look like 10/10

I think the intro having the music straight from the anime is very symbolic. The games have always been treated as sepperate entities in universe as it should. But Budokai Tenkaichi is honestly one of the big reasons the series stayed in peoples minds long after the anime’s end in that decade long official content drought. Giving Criware the time and funds to polish that formula to the max and put all the love they could possibly fit into a game that is miraculously only 26 gb made something truly speacial. The Super theme being used is a medal o honor that this game is just as important to the series as the anime, and does Toriyamas vision exponential levels of justice.

Man some of the missing characters were one of my favorites in Tenkaichi 3, like the 4 star dragon, devilman, king piccolo, paikon (or paikun or however you want to pronounce it) and super 17.
We had kid gohan great ape (didnt all saiyan characters were able to become great apes?), android 8, tao (and cyborg tao), nam, pilaf machine, arale, blue, cooler soldier, the female saiyan, kid chichi, and grandpa gohan which are clearly missing. (Garlic Jr base form too)
I am not complaining, I just hope we could get those in a DLC:
OG Dragon Ball DLC, GT DLC, and Super Hero DLC

The level of nostalgia when I see BT1 or BT3 ps2 graphics is insane! I bought both kakarot and sparking zero and once I'm done with kakarot i'm so excited to dive into Sparking zero!
