Was just talking about this with an old head at work. Dudes in the morning left me a piece in the machine with some chatter and steps in the buttress threads. All screws on the bar were super tight and no magnets or rubber was considered as a remedy. Fortunately, just had to tune the bar.

I wrap my parts in rubber bands from time to time just gotta make sure your bands can handle the rpm unless your milling then send it

they make different adjustable bands for brake lathe work.

Cool, I'm going to try this on brake rotors, been fighting chatter on nonvented rotors for 40 years

You can also wrap some rubber tarp straps around the outside diameter to cancel the harmonics like the strap they use when turning brake drums.

Same concept but rigid hydraulic hose or a dodge ball helps also. Can also wrap the O.D in rubber to help with chatter in the I.D. chatter is annoying especially when have a 32finish

just get some plumbers putty, slap a wad on the back side, reuse it for literally decades, or modeling clay, but plumbers putty is cheaper and easier to find.
