This is true, I can attest to it.
My nieces study in private schools in Bengaluru, my brother pays almost 10 lakh per annum on their schooling and they are just 5 and 7!

Seeing my brother struggle with his EMIs, school fees and loans has made me want to never have kids and settle down.

Great work FinshotsTV, you guys are brave working on the most important stories!

Private equity in everything - real estate, education, hospitals, food supply chains etc. We are in bad times. Good work on educating us.

Good issue to be raised.

Imagine in 5-10 years even this high fee will become multiplied.

Government needs to wake up and take some action, or else the common man will not be able to survive in India. Good job FinshotsTV for putting light on this sensitive issue.

One of the reasons is supply demand. Government schools in india are heavily underfunded and neglected. Bad infrastructure, broken and missing tables and chairs, paint breaking off walls, badly undercooked food, teachers who don't even come to class half the time etc, outdated syllabus etc. All of this results in a government schools being associated with a school for poor people. While if u look at europe, going to a government school is actually a big deal and competitive to get into. Middle class parents will never send their kids to a government school. This results in private schools charging whatever fees they like. Cause they know these kids ain't going nowhere. High demand limited supply of good schools.

My kids were in Cambridge school Gr Noida..most of the teacher were under qualified. Poor education quality..and this is with 99% of the schools, and I understood this during pandemic.. I pulled my kids out and made them do studies via open school…I saved soo much of my chunk of money .. made them do correspondence graduation, now they are able to take profession of their choice and I managed to save enough to afford it… schools are a big reason why middle class is going in debts.. I am glad I pulled my kids out ..

100% true. Thanks for the detailed information. My kid is at one of the school you mentioned, and I’ve noticed a 20-30% hike in school fees(Now at 3.7 L for 1st grade). It’s frustrating that we are paying income tax and, on top of that, an 18% GST on school fees/others —it feels so unfair

Biggest myth in modern times is schooling is key to success. Education not schools are important but systems are designed to make sure you have to spend your life savings to get the education devoid of quality, real life skills and even employable skills.

The downfall of india will start soon if common people cant afford school..
This why like China they immediately banned coaching classes industry despite they are billion dollar industry much bigger than india because they care about there people future than money

I'm glad someone is finally addressing this issue.. I have recently seen a video of some parents flexing that they pay around 25 lakhs for 2 children's school fee.. It's absolutely getting ridiculous at this point... Even schools with not so great infrastructure are charging between 1 - 2 lakhs per year in metro cities.. I really don't understand what kind of special education is being provided to justify these exorbitant fees... Is this some kind of a set up to reduce population? Because if the fees keep increasing like this, then raising kids could become a luxury in future, which only the rich ones could afford

Worst thing is that the teachers get peanuts, affecting quality and motivation.

If Govt can't get a solution on this madness, they should come with 100% tax exemptions at least.

Very correct indeed....and this is not a recent trend....the schools work for building a brand franchise, which generates the fee which indirectly works as another income.😢
