OneDrive is more than just a place to store your files. It's a sync tool to let you store OneDrive, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams files locally on your computer and smartphone so you can access files when you have weak or no internet access. Any changes you make will be uploaded the next time you connect to a network.

This video covers how to get syncing on your computer and mobile device then dives into best practices, tips and tricks, and landmines to avoid when syncing. Have you heard of the "Add shortcut to OneDrive" tip? It comes in super handy when syncing to OneDrive! Not to mention favoriting SharePoint sites and Teams so you can view your team files right in the OneDrive app on your phone.

There’s a lot to know about syncing, but once you have some expertise, it becomes second nature and really helps make life easier in so many ways.

Great video. I think I remember a time when saving files wasn't complicated.

This was GREAT. I had SharePoints and Teams mapped as drives, but once the company went to OneDrive File Explorer stopped working for those drives. Your tutorial was great in getting me back up and better organized than ever. Outstanding.

Glad you covered the send to onedrive links.

My biggest bug bear and danger with syncing SharePoint libraries is that people don't know how to remove a sync. Instead they will do what comes naturally. Yep select all and delete. I know there are protections in there. Yet old habits die hard. It's an education thing. Which for me is why I would rather use the links than a sync considering how many teams people are now members of.
Leaving sync for offline purposes only.

Just my in the field experience and another reason why we implemented a backup solution. Though retention policies libraries are an option.

Thank you for all your help! Honestly I was trying to understand how the 3 interfaces connect with each other. I am hired to organize a filing system and I am still learning about the interface. I needed to fix a syncing issue and thanks to you it is resolved. I will be checking out more videos to see if there's more information I need to know.

Thank you very much for your insightful videos! This is exactly what I was looking for. As Owner of a company OneDrive, can I check which folders/files other users shared outside the organization?

Since IE is being discontinued, we are having troubles authenticating our users through our Mapped Network SharePoint Drive. Now we must use this sync feature to use File Explorer View... which is really inconvenient. Wonder why Microsoft didn't include this functionality when creating Edge?

Great content! Thank you! So, if I drag-and-drop a local file to a linked Teams channel (via OneDrive) is that file stored in Teams/Sharepoint or is a link to my OneDrive stored in the Teams channel?

I am having trouble getting my photos from my digital camera to my PC photos because it won't upload them. Do I need to start a different app to put them in?

Matt, very nice video. The only issue i have with sync and add to one drive is with my users is that it depends on where it the user will be using the mobile clients (android, ios). If the user is using the mobile client alot, you have to use the add to one drive shortcut. The syncing while users like the Syncing option as it can mimick a shared drive layout, you will not see them on the mobile client.

This video was super helpful! You really boiled a lot of information down into nice digestible chunks :)

Using the sync feature on my laptop, I can upload files to our team's SharePoint when I am offline (i.e. no internet or cell service in a field situation), and all my files will upload once I connect to the internet. When I try to do this on my phone using the "make available while offline" feature, OneDrive tries to upload files to SharePoint, but fails, and I need to upload the files manually once I get service. Is there a way for me to add files when I don't have service, but make sure they upload automatically once I get it (like there is for my laptop)?

You guys rock!
