cannot believe how some of the commenters act as if GoPro needs to make a camera for individuals (just them). What the hell do these people want out of a little box. Must be geekier than you Ifti. It's pure entertainment reading comments about each and every GoPro model. Guess these are the same Geeks that criticize smart phone companies too. Wondering if you have done any tests on the Hero 6 or 7. Looks like the constant power is a problem for Hero 6 & 7 and in certain settings they don't operate normally, shut down or freeze.

Regrettably this isn't sufficent for us scuba divers planning to sport a gopro camera on our next dive. I now have the difficult task of deciding between a Hero 4 for the battery capacity while in a housing or a Hero 5 for the improved specs (which just so happen to be bigger battery hogs).

this doesn't work, as soon as I hit record, the camera switches to battery mode and stops charging, it's only when I stop recording that it starts charging again.

Would you know how to power up the camera with the usb c pin out wires? Black on 0v, red on 5v does not work you have to plug the green and white too, but not sure if we link them to the + and - directly

For my HERO4 I bought a special backdoor with power connector to the HERO port.

Ifti, Is there a particular external battery pack that you recommend? I want to try this on my motorbike. The hero 5 is fitted to a Peake bracket on the back pack strap, I can run the lead to a power pack in a pocket. I'm looking at approximately up to 4 hours recording at a time, will it work? Great vids by the way!

Hasn't worked for me using it as a dash cam. When the battery runs out it's down until it's charged or a new battery is installed. That's with 2 of them. Same thing.
