The U.S. strategy of applying pressure on China has not worked, and the Biden administration is now trying to do something different by holding meetings with their Chinese counterparts, says Kishore Mahbubani, a distinguished fellow at the National University of Singapore's Asia Research Institute.

Blinken raises concern about China's Russian alignment - Let me quote a Chinese TV host "The USA wants China to align with the USA to destroy Russia, so that the USA and other Western countries can focus their efforts to destroy China after Russia is destroyed. How preposterous!"
Going by the USA oppressive actions against China NOW, isn't that obvious? I wished Wang Yi had asked that question to Blinken, in front of the Press.

After all these provocations (HK, Taiwan, Xinjiang), unilateral trade sanctions, NATO expansion to asian countries to and constant defamation of China belt n road by the USA, what's left to salvage from that sort of toxic relationship?

The US is panicking. Blinken and Sullivan are running in circles. Weren’t these the two who were talking down to China a year ago at their first meeting?

There are two things America doesn't like about China. China is growing as a peer competitorson the economy and technology and the other one is because its Asian.

The problem with coming to any agreement with the Americans is they never stick to it . They will weasel their way out when it doesn’t turn out advantageous to them .

Does the US think China are fools. All the hindrances that they have imposed on China's takeover of semiconductor companies and what about the machines which Chin ordered from the Dutch? My aunt is Dutch and I used to have great respect for them being objective and upright but not after they stopped delivery to China on the orders of Uncle Sam

The (USA) America calls it "Liberation" instead of "Invasion". That was what US call it in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and the list goes on... Why the double standard? Confused... Please enlighten. Genuine question...

For any meeting between the two countries to be conducive, meaningful and effective, the US must first remove the fear mentality from the brain, the animosities from the heart and the lies from the soul.
Anything less than these principles is a waste of time for China.

Blinken is a lightweight. Typical of the type of individual occupying high positions while an empire crumbles.

The question is "Why would China want to help in any way the chief shiit stirrer? It is in China strategic interest to see the US becomes a pariah of the world

Mr Kishore is a great intellectual and what he speak about US policy for China is correct however he did not explain the real cause of changing this policy in my view US realise that the friendship of China and Russia is a lethal for US, that's why US trying to separate both of them by offering reducing tariff and other benefits for China, but China is not a fool Nation they knows about the intention of US always back stabbed to their friend, maybe china benefiting this us policies of economics but to break up supermacy of US in the world China always stand with Russia

Boeing lost the purchase order of 292 planes from China to AirBus. And China still needs to purchase in total 8, 700 commercial planes in the next 20 years. Money is the king. A Chinese saying, " money can even make the ghost to grind your rice flour".

Mr Kishore Mahbubani is one of the most sharp, fair, rational, and neutral political commentators in the world. He is definitely not a ball carrier.

Tariffs would work if there are alternatives to the products being targeted.
I can't believe the US lawmakers do not understand this fundamental logic.
eg. if you want to impose a tariff on Chinese solar panels, it is because you want people to buy American solar panels.
If there are no American solar panels, you must use the money collected from the tariff to help Americans build factories to make solar panels. If you do nothing, then the tariff would simply be a debilitating penalty to the consumers and the American economy.

This smells like classic Brzesinski, Kissingerian tactic of sweet talking China to break its now strong alliance with Russia. For over a century the strategic Anglo-American thinking has been to never allow these two large powers from coming together. BUT, the Ukraine war sanctions crazy policy against Russia has helped to strengthen Sino-Russian ties. Asia appears to forging its own future to the concern of the Anglo-Americans. Ukraine is a strategic disaster to quote Mearsheimer
