Keir Starmer clashes with SNP over two-child benefit cap in first PMQs as prime minister

Keir Starmer faced questions about a Commons rebellion on the two-child benefit limit during the first prime minister's questions since the election.

The SNP's Stephen Flynn noted that Gordon Brown, the Labour former prime minister, had called for an end to the two-child limit on working-age benefits but that Starmer had whipped his MPs to oppose an SNP amendment on the matter. ‘So, prime minister, what changed?’ Flynn asked Starmer

A two child benefit cap is a great idea. Only one wife should be covered by welfare too. Immigrants who haven't worked for three months should receive no benefit. If not worked for five months, deport. No benefits to people who came into the country illegally or who remain here illegally, confiscate all assets and deport, along with family members. No exceptions.

THIS Child cap is absolutely, utterly & totally disbolical!..& i say this with regards to my own sister having had 4 boys..2 of whom have yes, grown now but still if this had of been the rule of thumb at the time they were all young/er then What the heck?..Really Keir?. If you can't afford to look after 2, don't have more, it's not difficult. Other people struggling with the cost of living crisis themselves, shouldn't have to pay for your kids because you can't keep your legs closed.

If you cannot afford to pay for the things your child needs, then you shouldn't have had children. This puts a stop to certain groups in this country from popping out 10 kids and living off the benefits they recieve. Don't like it then leave.
