Bluray and DVDs are fine for me. My eyes aren't getting younger!

I can hear you discuss about this kind of stuff all day bro. You have a huge talent in creating discussions and forming your opinions. I can definitely see you having a huge impact on our community with these kind of things. Keep going and don’t let anything stop you!

In terms of the subject matter, I agree with you 100%. I have blu rays that haven’t had a 4k release in which I’m perfectly fine with. 4k releases are reserved for very special movies for me. Blu rays, when done properly, come very close to 4ks.

In this economy I have to pick and choose. I have an "Have to have on 4K" tier list of my favorites. Anything after that i'm fine with a Blu-ray, especially 4K scan Blu-rays.

Leviathan looked amazing on 4K and I am a crazy buyer of certain classic horror movies.

I really wish ALL companies would put the 4k Remasters on both the UHD and Blu-ray. I hate when only the UHD is the upgrade...forcing me to "lose" even more money on the double dip of upgrading a transfer. Edit: I'm talking about UHD/BD combos with new transfers only on the UHD disc.

DVDs still outsell Blu-rays, which outsell 4Ks. 4Ks are strictly a collector’s market.

I buy them all. I buy some new releases on DVD at Walmart. It just depends.

I have a highly curated collection, buying mainly horror and sci-fi films, most of which are firmly in the b-movie category. There are simply not enough 4k releases that truly improve on the blu-ray that I would want, to justify the cost of a player and the discs. So I'm happy to stay with blu-ray.

I get the 4k for films I don’t already own and the films I really love. 1080p is still good. 4k is just the cherry on top. It’s not needed.

I have yet to make the jump to 4K equipment. It’s been pricey enough living in Blu-ray land that still looks and sounds amazing to me. I’m sure UHD is superior in many cases, yet certainly not in all, or they are worse from what I’ve seen if the treatment is off. I also occasionally snag DVDs. I am grateful that most companies release Blu-ray upgrades with most of the extras when a 4K UHD release comes out. So I will get those editions from time to time to get new art and the Blu. Arrow has disappointed me a bit because I love them, but they aren’t doing the Blu-ray disc with UHDs. Wish SF would release more Blu’s in the mix… Great video man.

I just love movies.
I prefer 4K, but I have zero hesitation when it comes to buying a Blu-Ray.
I rarely ever buy new DVDs, but I have when I find something I really want in the $5 bin. But I still buy DVDs at thrift stores.
Last night the wife and I watched First Knight on DVD, and nobody once complained about the image not being super crisp. We just sat back and enjoyed a great movie.

As much as I love the 4K format I've learned that Blu-Rays are just as good. I've got a 4K TV as well as a Region-Free player and I've never looked back. Getting a Region-Free player has been such a game changer for me and saves me some cash when I can get a cheap Region B variant over something that's out of print in North America. When you learn to prioritize what you're looking for in terms of physical releases you can often end up economizing; as an example, if you think about upgrading a release so you revisit the Blu-Ray to consider it looks just fine.

I'll buy whatever format a movie is available on. I just recently bought The Langoliers and Pinocchio's Revenge on DVD. I only have one 4K TV and player in my house, so I still like to have Blu-rays and DVDs for the rest of my house

The blu ray of “Jaws” is unbelievable.

I literally have no problem watching a dvd or blu ray

After I upgraded my dvds to Blu-Ray I decided I wasn’t changing over to 4K. The difference in video just isn’t enough for me to pay a good bit more most of the time.

The KL Leviathan BD looks amazing on my Sony OLED & LED tv's. A huge upgrade from the dvd. It looks as good on the KL BD as it did in the theater.

If you have a big OLED TV (77 inches +) and a top 4K player (like Panasonic 9000) then the 4K release is the obvious choice. Yes, it's pricey but usually comes with a blu-ray of the same movie, so that you could compare. Moreover, HDR and Dolby Vision features on a 4K disk vastly improve your viewing experience. I agree, there're some 4K disks, especially early releases from Disney/Marvel, where the difference between 2K and 4K isn't drastic but usually for the newer releases it's clearly visible. Thank for the video, btw !👍

Same story about the Leviathan BD. I had to check to see if they accidentally sent me the 4K. It's an unbelievably great transfer. Better than a lot of 4k's...Also, especially with newer movies the difference between the Bd and 4K is minimal and can't justify paying an extra $10 dollars.

Thanks for the heads up on Bug, I love that movie. I have the Via Vision release so I'll be looking forward to your review to see if its worth buying.
