I have had fibromyalgia for the past 11 years but just recently diagnosed about 6 months ago. FINALLY after years of doctors and blood tests.I have had ups and downs with my body and have had days worse than others. I keep moving by walking, yoga and low impact exercises. I have even worked out in bed. But I have to keep going in order to live life. I have a family that needs me. I will not let fibromyalgia dictate my life!! 💪🏼

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2008. They put me on payments and told me i'd be home the rest of my life. I became an addict. I now have 5 years cleaned from pain meds. And I live every single day and excruciating severe pain. And none of the doctors I have will listen to me. They don't believe me, they say it's all from my past use. No, it's not. Why won't anybody listen? I can barely stand to grow grocery shopping most of the time I don't. My 20 two-year-old son lives with me. And thank God he helps me.

I can tell you as a man fibromyalgia is no joke. I’ve had it for over a decade if not longer. I can do whatever I want however there consequences. No matter if you move or stay still, the pain is still there. My motto is to be in shape as much as I can with pain, rather than be out of shape with pain. The only thing I have found to take my pain away is a hot tub. The problem is you can’t stay in it. I’ve learned to deal with fibromyalgia but it doesn’t get easier as you get older but you have to keep going.

Staying active is the problem! I worked out 6-7 days a week pre fibromyalgia. After words I can no longer workout, no lifting weights, no running, no walking over 4 miles, no stretching all of it throws me into nerve pain all over my body. 6 years of this. Sucks. Acupuncture only thing seems to help the pain.

Fibro is horrible, when they say it's a pain that is all over your body that's no joke!
Yesterday I had a very stressful day, and today my whole body is hurting, the fatigue that I'm feeling also means I can barely stand up. From my head, eyes, hands, chest, back, calves and feet are all on fire! It literally feels like I'm walking on 2 sprained ankles.
A truly horrible disease that is still so misunderstood

Was diagnosed in 2009, had to stop work.People have no idea how bad this is. Some days you want to just give up, but you can’t. Your have to get up each morning and do the best you can!

The best and only way I can explain how fibro affects my feel poisoned... every cell in my body is aching. After a day of exercise, I need 2 days of rest.

I don’t know, but I think consistent exercise will help, walking is the best, but when I’m in a bad flare up, exercise is the furthest thing from my mind. It’s survival time I just want to get through it. My thoughts are with all Fibromyalgia patients 🙏

I haven't quite gotten a diagnosis yet, though I have had some conditions ruled out. My mother went through countless tests trying to get an answer before finally being labelled as having fibromyalgia. She and I feel the same pain, and in a way it has brought us closer together. I'm glad to know people are starting to learn about something that has shaped my life so much.

Hi Dr. A, the three cardinall signs are poor sleep, daytime fatigue, and all over pain. Yes, IBS, headaches, tinnitus, tmj, and insomnia, but those are secondary symptoms. You don't need trigger points....you don't necessarily need childhood trauma or abuse...and you don't need sensitiviites....

I think you forgot to mention that having bad sleep habits can trigger this condition... also depression and anxiety. Thanks for the video.

It's a horrible disease and when I was diagnosed over 20 years ago, it was generally believed it was a mind/body response-psychosomatic. The general idea was that somehow we were such negative people that it was all our fault-we were MAKING ourselves sick due to a negative personality and deep inside, we just WANTED to be in pain. Not having it, they had no CLUE how horrible the pain is-why the EFF would someone WANT it to hurt really bad to stand up, sit or lie down? Hurt to take a shower, hurt to drive, hurt to cook and clean. Deep, fiery, bruised and broken bone pain.

Current Male who has it, and have been experiencing it six or more years prior. Really wish there was a one single answer and cure. Every day is ridiculously difficult.

My fibro started after I was pregnant and got chicken pox. It came w CEBV. This is my experience. I know many r quite different. My pain Dr gave me Tizanadine which was a huge help. I m now able to sleep at night and not all the time.
I hope this may help others.

I was diagnosed 30 years go. Thankfully my pain management doctor is well versed with the symptoms. As I have aged the pain has gotten worse, along with not being able to sleep at certain times. I live with exhaustion. My mother had it. I have 2 sisters that have other auto immune disorders. The oldest has Lupus, my younger sister has MS.

I know it could be worse for me, but there are times I worry thay my pain will continue to escalate. I cannot take Lyrica, Gabapentin, etc. It makes it hard for me to get relief. I am grateful that we are getting more research in order to help us.
