The ryzen cpus do have consistent naming. You just dont hear about the ryzen 6000 series because they're a series of mobile processors meant for laptops and not desktops.

Me: upgrades to Ryzen 5 5500

I want a next gen APU, and I want a motherboard based on that APU support, with 3 or 4 video outputs. The PCIe x16 slot should support x4x4x4x4 bifurcation for a quad NVMe expansion card tied to CPU lanes. Add Thunderbolt 4 ports and 10Gbase-T and I'll be all set for the next eight to ten years.

0:46 what I see is it trading blows with the 3070 Ti not the rebranded 3060 Ti

Honestly, still waiting for some really great games to release that actually make me feel like i am actually missing out or make me want to play them at decent frames to force me to upgrade.

For casual users the AMD 5500 is a good chip. Some montherborads may need a BIOS update but that is not a major problem.

i got my RX 6800XT at the height of the shortage at a whopping $1700 because i needed it and there was no end in sight for the price hikes. now, seeing the same card at less than a third of the price makes me the maximum ultra very big sad. :(

I had my 7950x boosting to 5.9 on single core with 5.4 all core. When they are properly cooled and uptimized ryzen 7000 is insanely fast.

I have seen no fall in prices for Motherboards. They are still way too high.

Btw those machines provably run in a DC where live kernel patching is applied .. so you can run the machine and still be fully up to date

8 powerful cores and 16 threads is more then enough for an average user. Now all they have to do is increase the speed and add more cache without overheating the processor like Intel does

*AMD used a perfect naming scheme for their processors since Athlon in 1999. Socket A, Socket AM2, AM2+ etc.*

Guys amd is working on something big. Amd is going to build the vrms straight into the silicon. I know because I’m working on that project.

I did not think the 7000s series would be all that good. After building and putting a lot of money into a 5000 series system of upgrading. I figured 8000s or 9000s would be the time to upgraded. I am holding to that.

I was hoping for at least a 24 or 32 core processor in the Ryzen 8000 series, but looks like I am going to have to hold out for a Threadripper based on the Genoa Epyc processors.

19% IPC gain, if i remember correctly rumors said that Ryzen 7000 will have up to 20% or 24% IPC gain and at the and it was 13% IPC gain, so reality is maybe (i'm guessing) 8000 series will get 10% IPC gain over 7000 series????
