Doesn't matter if it's perfect, it looks better than before and all that matters.

They have a blending clear you have to use . It comes in a can. You just apply a little of it. I just used it on a silver S550 and it turned out great.

Its all ok amongst all those achievements that had been done. Keep enjoying doing it, good luck!

It mottled. It happens when the metallic flakes don't lay down at the intended angle. It's caused by anything from reducer Temps being off to distance of the spray.

I respect the stubbornness of trying . This project has been amazing.

The issue was the masked area was too small, the pieces of paper may not have necessarily been a hard line but it ended up acting as one.

The new clear coat won't get along with the old one. They won't "mix" to put it this way.
The reaction is just a thin layer of new clearcoat, can't buff it sadly.

It's much fun to watch you fixing your beloved BMW...I do feel the Same...my 33 Year old Golf MK.2 is in okay shape, but I fix some things here and there too

You probably had some overspray from the silver paint, that ist why that happens somtimes.
Before you start painting you have to polish the places where you wanna blend, and after spaying paint you have to clean the overspray before you but clearcoat

3/10 been doing body work for years and what I would do is buy a cheap harbor freight gun than find a body line to blend too, sand where you're spraying with at least 400 grit so sand scratches are deep then around that area sand with 100 to the body line and between each coat of clear and even paint give it enough time to tack up pretty good. Touch the surrounding tape to check tackiness if you're unsure. The spray everything with clear to body line and sand the hard-line of clear and since it is on a body line you will hardly be able to notice it was spot sprayed. Sorry if that was hard to understand maybe I can post a video on how to blend/spot spray

Looks a lot better than it did. So I wouldn’t be too upset if I was you. And don’t listen to the haters… they just jelly is all!

Next time blend a larger area with clear coat, the "reaction" you see is the base sticking out

Honestly tho for a Bavarian Motor Works car it’s as nice as it needs to be it’s got the power that’s all that matters and yes for those who don’t know that’s what BMW stands for at-least the English translation of it

When using buffer and wax I like to slightly wet the pad and area I am buffing also always use the sander on the lowest speed never turn it up my guy I think you burned the paint up. I always apply water when waxing keeps from burning paint and helps spread the wax

Dude- the pros know what they are talking about. Don’t forget - they are also thinking about longevity not just looking good for a little while.

I would recommend the 3m buffing and polishing compound

I love the job but why not spray it yourself still cheap plus you can go over with more paint vs raddle cans.

This is not a show car or anything. So I would say this is a successful repair. No you didn't blend the paint or the clear. It's obviously different colors and the orange-peel doesn't match at all. The reason for all tell you it's not possible to do with a rattle can is because of the paint color. You can't buy factory paint and have it match unless the car is new and then it is still a maybe. But again none of that matters it looks ok and i would not fuck with it anymore.
