Component car is referring to a self assembly vehicle that is mostly new components that are designed from factory to fit, not take offs. Perfect example is factory five when you choose all the new bits in the catalog or a vehicle from superlite. A kit car is a vehicle who utilizes mostly used parts from an existing vehicle(think more than just powertrain here). That's basically what I've gathered from my research when I was looking to buying one

It's a bit sad to know that GTM is retiring, I didn't know until I watched this video. I was thinking of building a GTM when I retired several years from now. Now I have to look into FFR website to see the new replacement of GTM or just stick with its Subaru powered kit car that is also very fast.

The GTM has been on my bucket list a long time.
Right up until the C8 came out, and now the Z06.
Basically about the same price and performance, with a factory warranty.
Of course minus the 2000hr build time too

When these low costs are quoted, they are not in any way associated with the sleek, slick, beautiful machines shown in the accompanying image(s). You will spend 3 times that much money -at least - to end up with a car that looks and performs like that.

F9R looks sweet. Pair that with the standard LS1 from an old C5 like I owned for a decade and you'll LOVE the sound, and it has 365HP to get you in trouble! Listening to the exhaust on a properly tuned LS1 Idling is a thing of beauty.

It’s sad it’s going away forever. I don’t think their replacement for this car looks even close to as good and I just now learned about this thing! It’s already leaving and I just learned of it’s existence

Where did you get your info about the GTM being discontinued? The website merely states the orders are full. They had the same status this time last year too when it started getting close to the fourth quarter orders fill up so they have to limit them. I'd be very surprised if Factory 5 would discontinue their best selling product when it sells out every year.

Real talk, there needs to be a standalone TCM for the C8s 8-speed transaxle. I assume when enough will be parted out, costs will drop enough to be downright affordable. No more overpriced and weak Porsche transmissions!
