The All New 2019 Canyon Strive | GMBN First Ride

Canyon have released an all new Strive enduro mountain bike for 2019, as an update to the radical MTB which won it’s very first race in 2013, coincidentally the first round of the EWS, ridden by multiple world downhill champion Fabien Barel. But that was 6 years ago, and as mountain biking has evolved so has the Canyon Strive. Now featuring a revised Shapeshifter, an all carbon frame and 29 inch wheels, the Strive is a MTB capable of meeting the demands of modern racing. Neil takes it for a ride just to see how far it’s evolved.

Canyon have completely overhauled the Shapeshifter on the Strive, recognising that it was one of the weaker points of the old model. Working with Fox, they’ve redesigned the telescopic gas actuator which literally alters the rear suspension linkage position. This changes the shape of the bike dramatically when engaged, shortening the rear travel from 150mm to 135mm, increasing the head angle from a slack 66 degrees to 67.5, and raising the bottom bracket and seat angle. This dynamically transforms the way it climbs, offering a responsive and aggressive feel akin to a cross country bike. What’s more the Shapeshifter is compatible with all types of shocks, which makes the bike really versatile.

The new Strive also drops 10mm in suspension travel at the rear, now using a 150mm shock, and stays the same at 160mm for the front, although the CF Race model which will be used by the Canyon Factory Racing Team comes with a 170mm fork.

Available in four different sizes from small through to extra large, the new Strive caters to every racer out there.

Really enjoyed this one Neil... its good to see you guys doing actual reviews on bikes but not going into all the nuts n bolts and focusing on the main point - how they ride. Would be good to see more of these on lots of different brands (accepting your sponsorship's of course)
