This law of motion has several real-life applications that can be observed daily.

One of the most common examples of Newton's first law of motion is the behavior of a moving vehicle when the brakes are applied suddenly. According to physics, the vehicle will continue to move forward due to the inertia of the moving parts, until the force of the brakes is enough to bring it to a stop. Objects in motion, such as a vehicle or a person on a bike, possess a natural tendency to keep moving forward unless an external force applied to them.

Another example of Newton's first law of motion is the behavior of a skateboarder performing stunts. A skateboarder maintains balance on the board by using their own weight to counteract the force of gravity. However, when the skateboarder attempts to curb, change direction or stop, they rely upon external forces to change the direction of their motion.

The behavior of a ball rolling down a hill also demonstrates Newton's first law of motion. The ball tends to keep rolling down the hill at a constant speed until it reaches the bottom, where it stops due to the force of friction between it and the ground. Similarly, the movement of a ceiling fan highlights Newton's first law of motion, as it keeps rotating endlessly unless an external force is applied to it.

Lastly, the law of inertia is evident in the behavior of astronauts in zero-gravity conditions. In space, objects move freely without any external force because no force is acting against them, causing them to continue moving at the same velocity with no hindrance. Newton's first law is, therefore, crucial to understanding the behavior of objects in space and helps us predict their trajectories.
