The (not quite) part two of the FrSky S6R review

We attempted to make part 2 of the FrSky SR6 review, but instead, I threw the MiniRaceWing into the ground many times.

I the sound seems to suddenly cut off, that's me ranting and swearing in a field by myself.... you don't need to hear that.

Just to correct some bits in my voiceover. I have a habit of transposing the '6' and the 'R', so if you hear SR6, I obviously mean S6R. Also so to clarify the first LOS flight, I launched it using the autolevel mode in the S6R and this seemed to work quite well - hence I let go of the sticks and it flew level. I didn't get a chance here to try stabalize, or indeed work out if anything needed tuning - next time.

I'm maintaining a coupons/deals page on my blog, so if you are about to buy something, check it out in case there's a coupon you can use !

It's really frustrating when you have days like that, especially when you're failing at the first hurdle trying to get it in the air. I do think that an overhead style launch would be better with this plane, just hold it with one hand and do an overarm throw. It will have plenty of power and importantly gains plenty of height to allow you to get down onto the sticks and sort it out. Just my 2pence, everyone will no doubt want to tell you how to launch it but that has always worked well for me.

I have a total of four S6R receivers in operation. I would never fly another plane without it. Autoleveling and stabilization work perfectly. Just follow the setup video by Painless 360 on YouTube.
On my wings, I also set up a launch mode mix on my Taranis where up elevator is introduced as I push my throttle over 50%. Combined with autoleveling, gone are the days of bad hand launches. I now have 100% launch success. Oh, except a couple of times when I got in a hurry and forgot to apply the autolevel and launch mode.

Rough day....looks like more speed is need at the launch, either throw over your head as said by others or spin faster but try not to let the thing spin too much on launch as it's dropping the inside wing already. You know this already though I'm sure ..

Oh dear, heavily loaded thin wing...needs airspeed at launch time...I have trouble self launching my Falcon sometimes, but I made a central under fin I can grip well for launching. Even so, I sometimes dont let go soon enough and end up throwing it into the ground. I learnt how to do it now though...it's as Steve said, you launch it in an arc, like throwing a Javelin..seems to work ok. Not sure it will work on this one though, it's heavier wing loading, but at least you will have a better chance of wings level when it leaves your hand...which is important. I always launch in manual LOS...Sorry you had a bad launch day m8...

Fingers underneath, thumb over the nose and above your head for a flying wing. I don't know how this discus style launch ever caught on tbh

Definitely rotation causing your launch issues, I'd try just lobbing it upwards like an AXN

You got further than me. I am just using my S6R as a Rx. Can't get the stabilised part working. I think FrSky need to go back to the drawing board with this Rx. Not user friendly in least. I won't be buying another!!!

How did you get the fpv camera working again? Did you heat it? Clean sensor? Thanks.

Have you ever sorted the S6R out? There is new firmware, I wonder if you ever tried again?
