This isn’t conservative this is just common sense.

I'm 43. I've been a DJ, and promoter in hip-hop forever. Music does affect your emotions. And a lot of rap music is poison. Pill popping, degrading women, drug dealing, name brand buying, fellow black man killing music. FACTS! There is some music that is positive but the majority is not. When I put on the pop station 99.9% of the music is happy and fun. If you disagree count the amount of negative rap song you hear vs positive ones on the urban station per day then reply to my comment.

He's doing what works for him, and there is nothing wrong with that. He knows his weakness and chose to do something about it. He shouldn't be criticized for it.

Hip hop lyrics is poison I agree with Brandon

Makes sense to me--if you fill your head with negative all day, negative stuff is all that your mind can produce!

Most rap today is pure trash, period. Brandon is right to distance himself from garbage.... #Blexit

Music, Television, etc. at the end of the day it's all programming. you definitely have to be mindful of the messaging with any content

I stop listening to rap music about 10 years ago. Looking back now, I'm glad that I did because the music corrupted me. Thank you God for freeing me. 💯

When I was a teenager I used to listen to RAP music while asleep and after awhile my attitude changed drastically. After years of acting a fool I changed the music I listened to and my attitude changed for the better. It's crazy but is the TRUTH!!

I agree and thats why I changed what I listen to as well.

I've employed the same strategy but to be fair, had to cut off some metal and rock music as well.

I’ll pass on the rap too. In my opinion, it makes people of color look ignorant. Of course you have expectations but those artists are a very small minority.

I was taught as a kid that the mother of all learning is repetition. If you have the same bullshit trap glorifying lyrics that mention drugs on the radio (I can't feel my face, migos), as well as songs that disrespect women and you're hearing that on the ride to school, ride from work, at the gym, shopping at the mall, that's going to have an effect on your mood. It's conditioning in a sense.

People here are calling him weak minded . So how are people influenced to do things? By what they see and hear.

B. Tatum I agree 100%.
Distance your mind from the negativity.
Surround your self with positive influence.
It was a self healing process for me as well.
