I'm trying to move the easier hardware stuff there so that I can focus on the more in depth troubleshooting and diagnostic videos here :)

Ive been waiting years for this.
Ive been steadily growing tired of the compromise I made of only using my laptop when plugged in.
Thank you.

In my trying time of need, the last thing I needed was to clean out my laptop and my gaming set up would be complete in it's beginner stages. Alas, Windows became corrupted and I got caught in the Toshiba Boot Loop. I watched all of you're Toshiba videos up until you replace the hard drive. I appreciate your direct and precise walk through and it's so awesome that you'd also explain to other people with other issues to not waste their time with certain videos and provided links to fix the specific problem before moving on, so that no one would waste time. I appreciated that a lot today. You've been a great help.

Thank you so much! I was worried it would die before I could do any of this, but it is charging now. Also thanks for showing where to find those things! I have very little knowledge of toshiba products so that was extremely helpful.

Feb 2022 looked at several ‘help’ videos that required opening the power supply - in my case your video was the most helpful - the removal and the replacement of the same battery did the trick. Thank you

It's a little early to say this worked definitively; but so far so good. Thank You wise and helpful kindred nerd.

Just made a small donation.
I was about to take my Toshiba laptop to a repair shop.
It would start on AC but not on new battery.
Your advice (Device Manager>Remove Battery items) worked perfectly.
Thanks very much.

Thankyou Thankyou you saved me a lot of time. I removed that lower cover removed the battery for about a minute and installed it back and switched on immediately and it made the updates and no problem working like a dream again 💪🏻

Just to add, on some Toshiba Satellites you only have to remove 2 screws to get the battery out - took mine out and sprayed both contacts with compressed air which included a bit of the propellant likely alcohol based. Unplugged and spray-dusted the power cable from the charger unit itself. Wait a few minutes to make sure it's all dry. Insert battery back and screws. Mine came back at 100%!

Thank you! I took the battery out, restarted, and plugged it back in. Tada! Problem solved. So simple I feel silly that I didn't think of it first. I'm definitely saving this video should I need the other suggestions.

Word of advise, when you get this kind of error, by all mean, go through each step to check for a quick fix as per the video, but do realize, this problem relates to a dead battery i'd say 90% of time, so in my opinion you have a 10% chance it won't be. The plus side of it is the cost of a battery replacement, although not cheap for some models [especially if buying the original brand], is not as bad a solution as say a dead or faulty motherboard.

Thank you so much! I sent back two batteries from Amazon, now I bought one directly from Duracell (for my Toshiba A300) and again i got the same problem. Now, uninstalling the MS driver as suggested in the video, it works perfectly! Thank you again!

Thank you for your valuable advice. I own a Toshiba Satellite Pro - R50. I purchased a new original battery as old one was not holding it's charge. New battery was fully charged so ran laptop using it's power only but it would not charge up when reconnected to mains charger. Thought I had a dude battery also message indicated "battery not connected".
Tried your static recommendation and also the device manager, via Batteries and the Uninstalled the Microsoft AC Manager, shut down and then powered on and 'Yes' it worked. Thanks again from New Zealand, I owe you a beer.

Thank you!
My garbage Satellite (that I might either destroy or sell) has this issue. I'm glad this video exists!
Though I'm upgrading from an i3 5020U with 6gb RAM and a 5400 RPM hard drive to a new PC, I'll def use this so I can sell my laptop

My computer was stuck on 4% charge. I completed all the steps above and bought a generic new battery. Now it charges to 255% and as soon as I disconnect the charger from the computer, the computer dies. Is there a way to calibrate the new battery so I can unplug my charger? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us all : )

Purchased a replacement battery for my Toshiba Satellite. Seems to be the correct part and Toshiba OEM. Did the discharge you suggested. Installed new battery. Won't power up. Plugged in the charger and it won't power up. Removed battery and will power up with AC charger. Bad replacement battery? The battery charging icon shows the battery outline with an X through it.

Hi, I have tried the recommended things to try first, even went to the Dell website and had some updates there as well. Nothing seems to work to fix my issue. I have a Dell Precision 5530 laptop. I used my computer at a hotel yesterday and had it plugged into a lamp only for short times when the battery was getting low because I was on an all day zoom class. I have never had problems with my battery before, but last night I went to plug in my computer after getting back home, and the battery stays at 56% and only indicates that it is "plugged in" doesn't actually charge. Also there is an orange light on the front edge of the laptop that stays blinking. Computer thankfully still works as long as its plugged in. From everything you said, it does certainly sound like a static discharge problem. However, I have not tried to take the battery out, as it is internal and not easy. I may have to try that. I would love to have your input before I venture further and try anything else. Do you have any other suggestions, do you think removing the battery could fix my issue, and do you think because of everything that happened I do need a new battery now? Thank you for your help! -Janet
