Very brave of you Ben. Putting yourself in the spotlight has highlighted your inexperience, but so many people will watch this and think “that’s me and my dog”. We all had to start from this point and although you have made mistakes you have many positives. And you have done the right thing in seeking good advice. If you follow Charlie’s instructions you will improve Narla and you will learn loads yourself. Good luck with your dog buddy.

Always learning from Charlie! Thank you. And having a ‘real live’ person who struggles with the same things I do makes it even better.. thank you Ben and Nala.

Thanks to Nala and the two of you. Great to see/hear you helping the owner and learning from both your explanation and the owner/dog behaviour; really helpful and can seem some of my own behaviours as well.

Very helpful. Thanks. I’ve been letting my 20 month old dog play too much during our training sessions. He need to master the come back first.

Charlie, thank you so much for making these videos. I watched your video about your friends lab' who wasn't really interested in retrieving and thought to myself "Phew, I'm glad my cocker doesn't do that" and the very next day out in my field - you guessed it, he stopped retrieving properly! (he's 15 months) I have been quite down about it and starting to blame blood lines etc, but watching your video today (which I thought was an update on your friends dog, similar colour etc) I am really inspired again. I'm going to make myself a makeshift retrieving lane in my field and spend time, not too much as you say - which I've also been probably doing too many retrieves, with my dog getting these basics right. Also he's a "picky eater" and I was resigned to the fact, thats just how he is. but now I will try removing the bowl if and when he walk off from it. Absolutely brilliant, thank you so much. Sy

I hope this gentleman takes your advice and runs with it. Nice dog and nice man. Like you say..”you get out what you put in”

Ben has made a great decision in asking for coaching, learning what to do is important but learning what not to do is more important. I’m sure with Charlie’s help he’ll make excellent progress, perhaps there could be a follow up video later on showing Bens progress. Just my opinion.

Quit while you’re ahead is a good recommendation for all training, I think sometimes we just need reminding, and to mix it up. Great seeing an owner with problems we may all have.

Another outstanding training video. So helpful to have the continuous commentary responding to the real life training. So helpful

Thank you for this. I find your instructional videos invaluable. A special shout to Ben for agreeing to be filmed, an ordeal I suspect that I would try to avoid but which makes these videos so very very helpful. I really cannot get enough of these videos. I now watch them and take notes as your ‘information stream’ sometimes overwhelms my elderly brain 😂

Excellent Video with sweet and naughty Narla! 😍
Very useful for I‘ve missed to build the foundation and we are now working on it as my dog is four years old.
Retrieving is good but not reliable, and heelwork has to be improved. 🙈

Great advice about how to build up the retrieve! After another of your videos about retrieving (I believe it was about Harris’ problems with retrieving), I realised I was going to fast practising retrieving with my young dog. She has the talent (carries things all the time, brings me her stuff and never damaged a ball or dummy), but not so much the drive. I made it more of a fun game and figured out she’ll bring her dummy back without messing about if I move away from her. As long as she enjoys it, I’m happy with any level.

Would love to see insight on to developing the first steady retrieve. Hold the dog? Toss. Send? How far? A break down of this would be 👍
