I won the win-4 life about a decade ago. I kept a very low profile. It was a dream come true for me. Ever since then I've been my own boss. The only downside to it is the friendship that I've lost due to greed. You will see people true color once your status have changed financially. Remember money doesn't bring happiness. My advise to you future lottery winner is that don't let the money changes who you are. Winning the lottery simply mean you have a bigger bank account. Stay true to yourself.

As a retired banker, I would never trust a financial planner/adviser. Remember Bernie Madoff? Goodbye millions. Consider this, if you won say $150M. It pays $39K per million, per year so if you take it on and annual basis your disbursements are $5.85M and you don't need anyone to manage it because the annuity fund is being managed for you by the lottery. Your job when you are bringing in $5.85M annual income is how in the world are you going to spend that much money? After tax that's $3M a year. Personally, I would have a hard time spending that much every year. You don't need MORE money, you need to enjoy the colossal cash flow you've been blessed with to do the maximum good for yourself and your friends and family. Enjoy it, spend it, and give it away freely. It would be wise to have a lawyer to establish the ownership. Don't be stingy with the people who matter.

Yeah, it will probably be tough dealing with people coming for a hand out. Especially family and friends.
