ilya's breakdance might be more impressive than the 246kg c&j

Klokov proved to have a great business acumen and gave people what they wanted - huge lifts and a chance to meet a legend. He embraced the rising popularity of crossfit (almost a decade ago) instead of being negative about it, and was the entry door to "real" weightlifting for a lot of crossfitters back then. That'd be pretty sweet (but unlikely indeed) to see Lu go a similar seminars streak worldwide!

The Klokov 162kg strict press at the power weekend was the ultimate one

Klokov was amazing for the sport. Brought so much attention. When he came to Ireland I was in a lucky position to get to spend a lot of time with him and learned a massive amount. The first time he paused snatched 170kg in front of me on his "light day" 😂 was incredible. Never seen weight like that been moved. A proper show man in the sport. We need more

Klokovs 225kg push press is one of my favourite lifts ever

These are the lifts that got me into weightlifting. Not the battles, not the comps, just the lifts

Training hall videos and seminars from Klokov are some of my fondest memories of watching weightlifting. We were spoiled with these gems because they really helped highlight how incredible weightlifting is. Other early videos from Ilya and places like Cal Strength are huge too! World tour 2024 Klokov + Ilya + Liu.

I don't want Lu to use PED after his retirement tbh. He's probably made enough money with his 3 gold medals, that he can provide a comfortable life for his family. I just want to see him be happy with his family and finally take care of his health, rather than further abusing drugs.

A Klokov appreciation video in 2023? Don't mind if I do.

Klokovs huge lifts are probably the biggest inspiration for the type of training I ended up specialising in. I do mainly non contested lifts like push press, clean, snatch grip deads and trying to push these as my main lifts.

I know the squat book and Sika Sleep are in the pipeline, but when are you going to release the official Sika Strength Olympic Weightlifting fan fiction? Therein lies the stories and content people really want to see

My favorite videos of him are those of his last real period of training with the russian team during the summer of 2013 after he came back for the russian nationals, he wasn't even at peak shape but definitely the most inspiring for me.

Checking out all the different "full lifts" tonight, never knew what to call them. I just knew the snatch and CnJ as oly lifts, the thruster is frickin sick. I'll definitely do that sometime with terrible form 😆

Klokov has definitely earned way more money after his competitive weightlifting career. As probably nowadays can any weightlifter at his level.

it'd be interesting to see them switch to powerlifting after retirement and answer the what if arguments about oly lifters

Thank you for this good video!

However, I find it extremely upsetting and disappointing that you cut the scene where Oleksiy Torokhtiy power jerked 255kg just before he's tearing his t-shirt!

I understand that you wanted to do a 10 minutes video, however including that scene would have literally only taken two seconds more, so instead of a 10:57 duration it would be 10:59.

There have been very few other men in history who've jerked 255kg or more, but Oleksiy is as far as I know the only one who tore his shirt right afterwards, which makes it even more so unique!
