It’s crazy to me that apple made it that you can’t see hidden or deleted photos without Face ID or passcode but we still don’t have a simple way to lock anything else without going through processes like this

WHY THEY DONT HAVE APP LOCK IN SETTING JUST LIKE SAMSUNG.
THIS IS TOO COMPLICATED

How about the shortcuts app itself? Like they can delete the automation via accessing the shortcuts app

For people pointing out that the automation can just be deleted - whoever snatches your unlocked phone isn’t going to have a clue there’s a lock automation running in the background. The first app they launch they think will be of any use - Phone, Amazon, etc - basically bricks the phone as they’ll have no way to unlock it.

I tried to do it on the Photo app but when I clicked on it, it did lock the screen but when I unlocked it again, the photo app was still open so they still had access

Many people in the comments have requested what the wallpaper featuring the girl in a Picasso like style is from, could you please provide a link in the comments or description to the original wallpaper?

This hack is sooo much better than the time limit one because it still allows for notifications to work. But it would be better if the process of face id was automatic to not have to swip up (like in apps that implement the face id feature). Shame on apple for not having done this already

Doesn’t work opening from recent apps.

and you can not lock the "shortcut" app itself so it is pretty useless to use that method

this doesn’t work for me, in my shortcuts app there’s no “lock screen” option

So you just delete the shortcut automation and now the extra security is gone. So it probably works for children’s under about 7

and you just disable the shortcut app and you're in... unfortunately it's easily bypassed

If I could thumbs-up this video twice, I’d do it. I’m always paranoid that someone will snatch my phone while it’s unlocked and go on an Amazon shopping spree. Problem solved!
