This weekend I decluttered the last few items I only kept because of sunk cost fallacy. The home is now the Japandi/Minimalist dream I wanted years ago. I tormented myself over getting rid of this unused unloved stuff, and after realizing that I didn't experience ANY remorse, I thought to myself "What took me so long?" haha

So this weekend saw six bags of clothes and one box of home decor leave my house. Still have a ways to go but like you said it can take a while.

Decluttering is a on going process especially if you live with other peoples. When you think there's nothing left to declutter well I got 3 bags today...I put in the car to donate right away.

No periodicals, subscriptions, auto deliveries. Shop twice a month from a list. Any decor is compostable! I do a Sunday sweep, and a Monday night trash night sift through. I am a senior senior so life is different ! Selling some items occasionally. Thank you for the company!

Dana K White has the best system. Do it now. Instead of pulling everything out you do one item at a time. And if it goes to another room you do it right then. Have a donation and trash bag. At first I thought this was stupid and a waste of time but now I see how beneficial it is. No big mess and if you get interrupted it’s not a hot mess.

This was a nice video. Love the ending. Hubby and I are in the midst of a total declutter this month. (3 bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, large walk-in storage, closets, 2-car carport, 20x20 ft screened-in room, not to mention two full size Conexes 8x40, and a work shed on it's last legs). At the end of the month the 20 ft trailer should be full for the dump, but daily, the dining room table gets the items to sort through, then into my car till I have enough for the library and thrift shop. I'm still waiting to feel the "freedom", but I'm not giving up.

This is good for going on after a major declutter. I finally take the donation sacks to the car trunk as soon as it is full or I am done for the day. I use sacks because they are smaller and easy to get rid of. It was hard at first to not stop into a store after taking the grandkids to school. I always found something to buy. Now I really wait until I have a need list.

It took forever for me to realize where I put my trashcan when I moved it. It’s in a more logical place that takes less steps and is more handy. My grown children when they visit still go to the old spot where it used to be!

We are crafters. We have paired down and decluttered a lot. However, crafting is our main source of stress relief and entertainment. So the last of the craft supplies we have in bulk has a plan and is slowly getting turned into things we need for the home.
