If there’s one constant in this space, it’s ‘Noctua is awesome.’

Clarity on new gen kit is so important. Especially when there are unscrupulous operators in the market. Thanks for the heads up

I am not even kidding, i just bought all my new parts for my next-gen build INCLUDING the Scythe Fuma 2, and when I saw you initially show the email from scythe, my heart dropped. Thank you so much for clearing everything up and showing that it is actually compatible!

Please got CAN WE PLEASE get one set of mounting methodologies for consumer platforms, one mounting pattern, for ALL consumer platforms. This is mental. There is no need for this, mounting pressure is mounting pressure...

This is actually very helpful and im glad I found this. So what AMD said about am4 cooler compatability was technically true. it just boils down to if Cooler manufacturers required you to replace your Backplate. Building a new PC soon with AM5 so this definitely made me a bit more aware of what I'm doing.

Thank you Mike for explaining this issue so clearly. Great stuff (as always)

The main takeaway for me from all of this is:

Noctua might be slightly more expensive, but they DO NOT fuck you over. I've had an NH-D14 since *2013* for my FX-8350, and they've since then sent me an Intel Xtreme mounting kit, an AM4 mountain kit, and even now an AM5 mounting kit. All free of charge.

That in of itself is worth the extra $10-15 to me.

Thanks a lot Mike, just what I was waiting for.
Hopefully you'll also find the time to actually check which line of coolers will be enough to keep the 90°c operating temperature without throttling.

That answer from Scythe support was strange. I actually wrote to Scythe EU a week ago and got this reply:

"The mounting system for AM4 and AM5 is identical. So the Fuma 2 is already completely compatible to AM5. "

Thank you for excellent sound quality of your videos. This is the only channel that I can listen to at my car without speakers popping and buzzing.

I was worried for a moment there. I bought a fuma 2 rev b a while back because availability of this product in my country is atrocious I bought it before the am5 release. Good to hear that it can be mounted and doing a good job cooling the new chip.

Great video, very clear. I have a Fuma 2 and I'm very happy with it, so sad that Scythe wrongly say that it's not AM5 compatible...

Great video. I believe my techn waterblock should work with am5. It comes with a backplate but the screw threads are identical to the am4/5 backplate and it threaded in no problem.

P.S. if you ever wanna truly test mounting pressure, buy some pressure paper, it works incredibly well. I used it when doing my 4690k direct die mounting.

I have a Fuma 2 (OG) and saw that same post about AM5 not being compatible. Did a search to see if that was BS or not and thank you for putting my worries to bed. You're a hero!

Appreciate the breakdown. Just upgraded from AM4 and was a little concerned with the compatibility on AM5. Great video!

This was very informative. Explaining what would be compatible and why is exactly what I was looking for. Well done! Kudos for using Noctua.

Really nice video, I have the EVO 212 LED and it came with AM4 locking bar to use the existing AM4/AM5 plastic latches, but the issue is that the heatsink must rotate 90 degrees. the EVO you are showing in the video has the same cuttings (grooves) on it's baseplate that makes it do the same to fit on AM5
