In December 2012, Matthew Schrier embarked on a mission: to get the most hard-core combat photographs coming out of Aleppo, Syria at the time. When he was 45 minutes from the Turkish border, the car he was in suddenly stopped and he was taken prisoner by one of the most powerful terrorist organizations in the world: Jabhat al-Nusra.

On his episode of Locked Up Abroad, he spent way too long talking about how much he hated his fellow prisoner. When the other prisoner told him not to try to escape because it would be putting his life in jeopardy, he began harassing him for hours until he agreed to help push him out of the window. Then he decided that he wasn't going to be able to help the other prisoner through the window -- because he was "too big" -- and left him there. Committing the act was one thing, but it became cowardly when he went out of his way to villainize the other prisoner in order to justify his actions.

This guy left Theo Padnos (his cell mate) behind, worse, he lied about how he tried to get him through the window. And his detailed interview right after his escape got Theo in trouble with their captors and further torture.

His story on Locked Up Abroad was so good I had to scour the internet for him. Good man, and even better ambassador of the idea "We are Americans "; in his words. Bet he could write an hour of material for a stand up bit the way he tells the story.
