I started my low carb journey before it got CRAZY popular, so there wasn't a lot of information or a lot of helpful keto substitutes out there. There is a lot of good information and a lot of miss-used information out there.

This is what I wish I would have known before starting my keto journey. It really would have made the struggle not so difficult.

been on keto for 4 years now, the reason myself and family started it was because of the trouble my father was having with his type 2 diabetes, the weight loss has been a happy coincidence

I didn't have the carb cravings at all...as a matter of fact I stopped Binge eating all together. Keto was like a miracle for me after 50 years of disregulated eating patterns!

Watching carbs & unhealthy ingredients has helped my overall health. I struggled with joint pain, acid reflux & other stomach upsets. I am thankful there are great substitutes on the market. Also, people like you who teach us tips & tricks to staying healthy. Your channel has been one of my favorites. I appreciate the work you do.

Thanks for this video and love all the comments. I started this last week out with a 38 hour fast. Now I'm doing very low carb Keto. Years ago when I first did Keto I did the 20 carbs a day way and I was having issues of not losing weight. So after lots of research I figured out that because of my age-was 62 and my thyroid issues that I needed a bit more carb. So I added more and I finally started losing weight. I lost 80 pounds and over the past 3 years or so I've gained 20 back. So now I'm gonna do VLC/ Keto I AM doing it. And it feels sooo good to be back on and in control again! My problem is that I don't get hungry at all and have to make myself eat during the day because I know if I restrict calories I will not lose the weight. I'm 66 now and feeling great on Keto again!

I have been keto for 6 yrs and there really wasn't much to watch on YouTube. My doctor gave me a packet about the diet. I joined the DietDr. and researched keto for 1 month before I started. I'm 67, and this is the first time in my life (lost over 100 lbs 3 times, only to gain it all back and then some). I can honestly say, I have never deviated from keto. It had to be a lifestyle for me. My husband refuses to eat anything with Keto in the name lol So, we eat totally different and that's okay with him and me. I lost the weight the first 6 months and have maintained it. He made fun of the diet and said I would never stay on it or keep the weight off. Well, I showed him lol Even he is shocked that I have stayed with way of eating. I love it! I know myself after all these yrs, that it is a slippery sloop for me. I have over done it on nuts and keto sweets lol Thanks for all your info and recipes! Happy New Year

YES! The keto dietary lifestyle!
I found keto by accident - I was a vegan /vegetarian for over 25 years.. and was NOT the junk food type... but.. I watched my weight and inflammation level go up and up and up. A difficult situation in my life made me decide to stop looking after ( cooking) for everyone else's health, but to look after my own- I decided to go back to how I had eaten as a younger and thinner person- ( I gave up eating flesh for ethical reasons as opposed to health- it was a major change of mindset to begin eating flesh again- now I thank the animal for giving it's life to sustain mine - I still feel bad, but it is important to honor my own body as well.. and this brings me health)
I found myself pretty much eating keto unknowingly - a dear friend pointed it out- from there I paid attention and followed the lifestyle more closely- I dropped 8 sizes in jeans- two bra sizes - and could probably stand to drop one more size in jeans- to a zero.. but.. as was pointed out in the video- the closer one gets to their goal weight... the slower it goes... because of my age, some of that excess is loose skin... I can live with that! The weight loss itself was effortless... and I was ( and still am) never truly hungry... I have maintained my current size now for over two years... and I do not in the least feel deprived ... and yes, I cheat... but only a meal here or a meal there when out a family gathering - it's all good... and YES! The keto dietary lifestyle!

I agree, Annie, turning it into a lifestyle has been a game changer for me. Life saving, really. I still allow myself to enjoy the old family recipes and traditions for celebrations, and the occasional local cuisine treat when we travel, but otherwise, normal everyday eating is low carb, and sometimes I go stricter keto if I feel like I need a boost, but I'm careful not to be too strict for too long (working with my doctor to support the weight loss and other health benefits, but not compromising my liver). I've lost 70-80 pounds so far and have hit a plateau, but I'm maintaining during that plateau, and I still feel and function so much better than I did before losing the weight. I'm ok with this being a process and taking a little bit of time. I will be low carb forever, my body just functions better that way. And, after I started seeing success, my parents and brother have adopted this lifestyle too, and all have also lost weight, and one of my sons does it when he needs to lose a little weight. We're all so grateful to have people like you putting out so many fantastic recipes that help us do this with less stress so we can keep going on this lifestyle. Thank you!

I'm so grateful for your channel and recipes. Today I officially got to my goal weight, since July 22, 2022, after I saw a terrible photo of myself.

35 years ago I read the Atkins Book and simply followed the rules, after 6 weeks I had lost 20kg and everyone was telling me how unhealthy Atkins is 😅. It’s so amazing and beautiful with all the substitutes now . Your channel is a great inspiration and motivates me to keep going. Thank you so much 🙏 Greetings from Switzerland

in the past 4 years I've been in and out of keto and the main purpose was weight loss, and whenever I reach my goal I'm out. after listing to dr. Chris Palmer podcast about how keto help with mental illness, this time I'm in keto for my mental health after struggling with anxiety and depression for 6 years. 2 months in keto now and feel much better than when I was on antidepressants.

keto has been a game changer! i found it easy to do initially using the substitutes but now a year later, don't really need or want them. i think one aspect of keto that no one mentions is the way it heals your brain, especially around disordered eating. perhaps because you're finally being nourished in the best way.... i am no longer hypertensive, pre-diabetic, anemic... i can go on and on. thanks for the video and i love everything you put out!!

Without realizing it - shssh... my sciatica I've had for 5 yrs on and off, GONE! My frozen shoulder- GONE...OMG. and I don't crave carbs! After 7 months I lost 20 lbs and @ 70 am enjoying the $#@" out of wearing a size 2 jean. When I want crunchy snacks I eat Chicarones, and have 4 different brands in my pantry. WHO KNEW??? Thank u for your channel❤️💕👍💗💕

I love your videos, these are such important things to keep in mind when starting keto. I'm doing a stricter keto restart myself, I started eating keto in 2017 and I feel best when I stick to it. The only issue I have in this video is when you are talking about eating the wrong kind of carbs "like gluten" when gluten is not a carbohydrate, it's a protein. While that is the case, it also tends to be inflammatory to many people and it's always good to avoid inflammation. Thanks for always making great videos and giving us great recipes and advice.

Hello! I am a reluctant keto diet participant. I have tried 3 recipes from this channel and they have been absolutely delicious! I need to lose 45 pounds but am very resistant to weight loss and have thyroid issues compounding the problem, so I will need to make sure that I eat enough carbs to avoid aggravating that issue. Thank you for making this so much easier--you are my favorite keto channel!

When I first started 4 years ago, I jumped in cold turkey. I didn't have Keto flu or any other side effects coming off carbs. Grateful for that. I don't yo-yo. I'm totally committed.

I lost 150lbs on Keto. And good thing - I required Open Heart Surgery to replace a congenitally defective Aortic Valve in April of ‘22. I went from 321lbs to 170lbs. I started about 4 years ago and I lost 60lbs almost overnight. Then I went OMAD & did IF. I still eat that way and I eat very clean. I don’t buy processed Keto Foods. I make my own dishes everyday. I’ve maintained my weight loss for over 2 years now. I love KETO because I’ve always been a big meat eater. I’ve even gone Carnivore on some days.

I started keto 5 years ago for weight loss, added in IF to complete my weight loss journey and have stayed on a ketogenic lifestyle because of the health benefits I experienced. I have strayed a few times (on vacation or over the holidays) but never for more than one or two days (I start feeling lousy again) and got right back on the wagon.

Loved this wisdom! I will always be keto. Reversing Type 2 as we speak! I have been diagnosed with a life long undetected auto immune disease and my eating needed to change ASAP. MY journey began with Keto! Since about a year in I feel tremendously better, lost weight [and counting], modify the fat, and look forward to the different foods you can use as substitutions. It's fun and keeps me focused on healthy living and eating. Personally, the American diet leads to death. Switching off of that and onto nutritious eating is the best thing to maintain and improve health. It's a process but one that is well worth it.
Thank you for sharing this. ❤

She tells the truth. I started a keto diet in February of 2022. Iv'e lost 75 pounds. I feel much better now and my brain isn't foggy anymore. my blood sugar is normal, I could loose another 10, 15 pounds if I want. I don't crave the carbs like bread and pasta anymore. It is so fun to make keto recipes that taste good.

Losing water weight is still important. 10 lbs is still 10 lbs and less work for your heart. However, water weight can go back on EVEN faster than it was taken off - especially if you "cheat" or fall off the wagon. kicking myself out of ketosis is an instant 8 lbs water weight basically overnight 😩 and no, not exaggerating at all - I have put on 8 lbs overnight before. My dad gained 10 from Thanksgiving. He took it back off within 2 weeks but I just don't have time for that fvckery 😬😬
