China's Newest Tank is Doing the Opposite of Everyone Else

The Type 15 or Black Panther Light Tank is China's latest armored vehicle to be introduced into service as part of its ambitious modernization program.

Compared to their own Type 96 and Type 99 main battle tanks, the Black Panther is lighter, coming up at around 32 tons, with better mobility, speed, and improved performance at high altitude levels with lower oxygen.

It is also known that China has especially developed this light tank for plateau combat against neighboring India. Both countries have had territorial disputes for decades, and China has recently deployed this new tank on the Tibetan Plateau, ready to attack at any moment's notice…

The tank at 1:11 indeed is a "T-54", but the one in the pic is the American prototype T54 with oscilating turret and autoloader, it has nothing to do with the soviet T-54, just like the US heavy tank T34 and the famous soviet T-34 from WW2.

The US has it's own Light Tank in development called the MPF and nicknamed the "Griffin". So China isn't doing the opposite, but Light Tanks seem to be making a come back. Japan also has Light Tanks because much of Japan is made up islands with mountainous terrain

Autocracy like China is really testing & compelling our Lazy and inefficient democratic and bureaucratic System here in India. India has also been working on a similar project but, insufficient funds and lack of infrastructure for R&D is Challenge !!!

China isn't the only one doing medium tanks. The ROK's infantry fighting vehicle K21 can also be converted to a light tank. Turkey's Otokar Tulpar can also be configured into an IFV or a medium tank, and the FNSS Kaplan is a medium tank which has already been sold to Indonesia who participated in its testing phase (which is the only reason they're listed as a co-producer).
