Blender 3.1 - M1 Max GPU unlocked! - Feat. Mr Legion 5 Pro.

Показать описание
Blender 3.1 has arrived! GPU support is now available for the M1 Max and Pro. This update offers incredible gains for the M1 Max and Pro, delivering up to 5x better rendering performance than 3.0.

Is that saying much for a laptop notoriously slow at 3d rendering?

How will it fair against a Blender beast like the Legion 5 Pro?

All these questions will be answered in the next 5 minutes.

Big thanks the John Forde and S O N G for sharing their Blender 3.1 testing with me.

Render times are important, though I’m a lot more interested in viewport performance when working on complex scenes.

I really enjoyed this video. Great quality. Funny and informative. Any update on the blender and Mac gpu compatibility?

Great comparison! Until the M1 chips include ray tracing acceleration hardware like the RT cores in the RTX cards, it seems that Macs won’t offer much competition for 3D rendering.

You can see much stronger performance than this on the new version of mac os Monterey 12.1 or beta 12.2 is even faster also cpu + gpu needs to be enabled to get the best speeds. I have a 14” M1 max, 64 gb ram with 2 tb ssd and i see under a minute on classroom and under 30 seconds on bmw

Apple needs to optimise their Max chips, until Pro chips the performance was scaled really well. but Max 24C and 32C GPUs are performing almost identical in every test

Latest Blender 3.1 build has MetalRT (experimental) support, can you please try this and see the difference? My friend's MBA wasn't updated yet so i can't tried it myself

The MetalRT checkbox are located near the Metal settings box, and because it has "experimental" sign.. probably you should also enable the Cycles experimental feature set on the Cycles settings

Hi Ben! Is it possible for you to test Legion 5 Pro against M1 Pro (base model 16") in DaVinci for regular editing, cross fade, few titles and color grading? Evrybody focuses on expport time which is irrelevant for most people. LOve your channel, keep it up and Merry Xmas!

Just what you're looking for, when you've got a Legion Pro 3070 for your blending.

Is 3.1 the one that can utilize GPU acceleration with MacOS?

Hi Ben! Quick question: I'm a beginner with Blender, and I have a 16" Macbook Pro M1 Max coming my way. I was just wondering if the 32core gpu will be enough future-proofing for me to learn 3d and improve. Do you think the Apple improvements with Blender will be available during the life span of this computer? Will it eventually achieve the performance of what your 3070 is doing right now?

I'm planning to use the laptop for other things like video editing and photography, and portability is something I need right now. I already have a 3070 desktop setup at home, and I'm just wondering if M1 Max will be loads better compared to M1 Pro in terms of 3d work.

Love the video btw, instant sub. <3

the purpose of a laptop is not to be plugged into the outlet ... You could be honest in your comparison and carry out the test to the end. But I am afraid that the performance of the PC will collapse / I did not see the price of the PC .. an oversight no doubt happy new year

Hi Ben, thanks for the review. an uncommon question, does L5 Pro has good enough color accuracy, and is it recommended for professional work?

Wow! If I didn't need a Unix based system, I'd definitely go for the Legion. Still looks like the 16" max will be a considerable upgrade over my 2018 15". Great video, subbed!
