We Rode 170km On a £170 Bike | Joe's Epic Budget Ride

Watch Joe Suffer through a gruelling 170km on a £170 bike. YouTube commenters love telling us two things; that any long ride we complete was only half as epic as theirs and that all the bikes we review are way too expensive.

Well, with that in mind, we set Joe a truly daft challenge – to ride 170km on Amazon's cheapest road bike, the Baracuda Corvus.

Watch as Joe struggles through one of the hardest 100+ mile rides he's ever completed and delivers his verdict on this budget special.

£170 bike with £200 clipless pedals. Seems legit

One time I did a 360km one day trip on a £20 steel road bike with flat pedals. The other time I built a cheap steel fixed wheel bike and gone for a 200km trip. The greatest adventures I've ever had on a bike.

Very well said: 170 vs 350-500 is hude difference. On top of that: I bought used bike that was worth 2000 while new, for 500 only. It needed only brake pads to be changed. So... ;-)

Riding with Felix looks a lot like riding with my son. He'll blow by me like a rocket, then he'll ride my wheel for miles and miles. Always great content! Looking forward to more Joe and Felix adventures!

I once bought a GMC Denali men's road bike from Wal-Mart - $160.
32 #
I systematically bought lighter parts - carbon fork, used Campy crank, Mavic Kyserium Elite Wheelset, etc and got that puppy down to 20.5 # !
Must have been a record 11.5 # Diet loss !
It really performed well too and looked nice - but shows what can be done.
Nice job guys !

Love this content! My first training bike when I started racing juniors was my Dad's clunky old 10spd. I did so many miles on that thing. This brought back some good memories.

This is totally off topic I live on the other side of the world, went through Cheddar Gorge once almost 20 yrs ago on an epic budget driving holiday but somehow instantly recognised it in your intro. Great to see it again in an epic bike ride story 😂

When the kit you're wearing is more expensive than your bike.

I don't know what all the fuss is about with this cheap bike. I rode and raced bikes in the 1980's which were heavy, had 10 and 12 gears, had no really low gears, were all 53/42, crap brakes, crap tyres. Riding those bikes was the norm and you just accepted it and got tough riding them. So much nonsense about these days and stupid prices. If someone gave me a £170 bike, i'd just ride it and enjoy it.

Iron, iron everywhere! That's the thing when you go the lowest of the low of the price spectrum. For twice the money you get ten times more bike. Price to performance this bike sucks haha. Great video as always guys keep it up!

A cheap bike feels great if it's all you've ever ridden.

15kg?
How did they make it that heavy?

My 1980s steel MTB that I turned into a gravel bike with 35mm tyres and a triple Chain set in Sora is only 11.8kg.

That cheap road bike must be made of Solid Chineseium.

Back in the 90s my local rugby club used to do a 100+ mile training /charity ride every year - back when most bikes were steel framed and 12/14 gears

44 - 25 gear on a 15kg bike, up Ceddar gorge. Wow you are a machine.

That looked like a lot of fun. You should do the ride again with the same bike but with upgraded components (shimano 105) to show how a gears and brake upgrade (also bar) can make a sizeable difference to a more budget orientated bike.

Great video. How you survived the descent into Wookey with those brakes? I’ve been down with 105 brakes and had squeaky bum moments. 👍
